Thanks,
Better off just leaving those soldiers to defend the city.
Mods in M&B Warband add this feature, as well as a way to recruit soldiers just by sending out a "Runner" to all of the cities to gather up fresh recruits. In that way, you can always be forming new smaller armies to patrol your land for you. Also, it adds ways that you can just pay a lump sum to have small patrols sent out around your base.
The mod is called Diplomacy, it really is vital to that game.
Even in Warband, you could have Dukes/Barons under you in your faction after you became king, who would do your factions bidding independent of you. Again, pretty vital to the game...
It feels wierd being the only army doing anything for your faction.
i get it that this game isn't finished but the dev's above statement makes me quite worried that this game isn't going to be what i was thinking it was. witch is basically M&B WB with the good mods like dipomacy already in the game...
whatever the case may be i've had fun shooting scrubs for a bunch of hours but i can't see where i am to go from there.
Thank you, diplomacy adds so much. Fooble, Iam not sure what your trying to say.
When you mentioned patrols, I am thinking you are meaning, that you assign soldiers to said patrol, and they march around your domain and engage enemies.
As an idea that sounds really cool.
But in game, that would be pretty worthless. You would have to dedicate an enormous amount of resources to have a force that, with auto battle, can actually fight attackers and win.
You would need 50+ soldiers in a 'patrol' to have a chance against the larger stacks that are a threat. Using auto battle it would constantly be suffering losses against bandits and Uman - but against a large faction army, its either going to be obliterated or be severely depleted for no real gain when you could have used those soldiers to garrison the city and repel any attack.
Small patrols numbering less then that are going to take out 15 man bandit parties that aren't a threat in the first place, but be dominated by the first 40 man stack they encounter - there goes a lot of money, and time if you trained up troops first.
I have assumed that eventually allied AI generals/warlords will become availiable, similar to vassels in mount and blade. Basically AI controlled generals that maintain their own army, defend your territory and fight against your enemies on their own, but will follow your direction.
That feature, along with expanded diplomacy is one that I am really excited about.
If patrols are automated by cities, and can be improved by donating money or specific resources to a town, that would be fantastic. Even if its not effective it would still be cool and immersive.
