yup, this is really really realllllllly stupid problem to just "cancel." It was such a simple thing that really improved gameplay. I always have one squad as my "personal guards" and I set them to follow me. I really hope the devs realize this and just code into the game that vehicles cant follow player. ITS A SIMPLE FIX and this is an amazing game that just lost a seriously simple point of immersion.
it was creating a lot of bugs which you may not notice but it influence the entire game
Also you can tell vehicles where to go, right? So why does having them follow the player break the game? Aren't they technically just following you and you're a constantly refreshing waypoint?
Was really hoping for the vehicles update, dreaming of having a squad following each tank while they slowly advance and gun down the enemy.
please devs, if you can don't just cancel this feature, just rework and fix it overtime, it's essential for this kind of game.
+1 nothing is truly a game breaking conflict because you can work around it. Developers have been doing so since programming was invented.
The feature worked fine before the vehicle update, and this is still an early access game. If vehicles broke this feature, they should be removed until a solution is found. Or just not allow vehicles to follow the player.
Then fix it. No one wants to open the map ever time they want to move there squads. Well, I'm glad I held off on buying this game. Because if you're going to remove features because you can't fix the problem, then not only are you a bad dev team, but you don't deserve my money. You guys didn't even think of the ramifications of this, because if you did, you wouldn't have removed it. Lucky for you I already did
Now you have 3 real options when it comes to strategy.
1. Move your squad deep into enemy spawns, which results in more people dying, meaning you now need to spend 2x or 3x the money to manage squads
2. Since you can no longer slowly move your way into the map with squads following you. You have to move small increments and open the map up every 10 seconds or so to order the troops to follow you. Which increases battle time, in a bad way.
3. Leave your squad, take out as many enemies solo as possible, and hope that after you die your squad can handle it themselves.
There are probably one or two more ways you can fight, but the 3 listed are really the primary ways
Without the "follow me" feature, people will die more. Which in turn they will give you bad reviews. Sayings things like, "Devs removed the only feature that made this game playable" or "After the latest update, expect to solo everything, from enemies ranging from 10 to almost 100". The sudden increase in negative reviews will turn away most potential buyers, then your game will become dead.
Also, there is a workaround for this but it's kind of complicated. You can order your troops around a lot from the start, and follow them instead of them following you. It makes it hard to improvise, but it's something.
Well, I don't know about other people, but it was kinda a no-brainer for me to come up with those strategies after finding out the follow command was removed. You just gotta think about what made the follow command useful.
Which wasn't hard. Then you figure out how removing it can adversely affect things. Most people like games easy and challenging. Which is hard to do. You have to make the game easy enough for people to enjoy it while making it so they don't get bored of it.
For a game like Freeman, the follow command was essential for making the game function properly and it's what originally made people fall in love with it. When you remove something people love, they dislike it instead.
As for your workaround, yea, that would be a decent one, but I feel like it can fall under strat 2.
Granted, when I made the comment above you, I was in a bit of a pissy mood, and even though I did as much as I could to curb my revolt while creating, a little bit of it still slipped through. So I'd like to apologize to
For my brashness, but it doesn't make me any less right. Your reviews will start to turn sour and fewer people will start playing the game. Hopefully, you can rectify this situation and solve this problem
I think
Created the solution to your problem. I'm not sure what your dev team is like as a whole and the number of people you have. But according to a programmer who is helping with my own game that 6 others and I are working on. Your so-called problem isn't a hard one to fix. Now, this may sound a bit harsh, but either you're not telling us the whole story or you're too lazy to fix the problem
There were other things I wanted to say, but I'm watching a Twitch streamer and I forgot what I was going to say. So that's all for now, I'll create another comment if I remember what it was
