i'm a gamer with 30+- years of gaming experience which mostly i spent on rpg game. and this is my honest review for this game

at this current state which is very very early release, the game need polish and finish. let's help this developer by giving him feedback and of course by buying the game. this game is better than Elden Ring. I'm being dead serious. 55GB means good amount of content for a open world rpg of this calibre (im almost 20 hours into the game and yet has only managed to discover no more than 20% of the open world, and i roam a lot).

here you can

1. Physics mixed with magic and element. I cast tornado then i throw a magic fireball. that freaking nado becomes giant fire red tornado. i cast water orb then i cast an angelic beam called "Skyfire", that water orb become a golden water orb that restores my health. there are METEORS (earth element) and there are COMET (different element). I know you love this stuff, with all due respect. not even Elden Ring nor Diablo does this kind of stuff. see it for yourself. this game keeps make me wonder and super curious, i can't stop playing.

2. looting is amazing, looting in this game is borderland tier. gears you loot is always appealing. even more you can loot skill/spells from the world and enemies and puzzle/mysteries. there are literally more than 200 animated skill/spells (this point alone just make this game more appealing than Elden Ring for me, at this point i'm almost 20 hours in and only managed to get/loot less than 15 spells). this is the main reason i bought and play this game on day 1

3. fight kaiju. i was level 2 and decided to spent 15-20 mins fighting a level 26 small size rock kaiju, when i manage to kill it guess what?! BOOM, that thing drop weapon, armor and a FREAKING SPELL THAT SUMMON HUGE PILLARS FROM THE SKY. honestly, this blown me away! This monster was located in the middle of floating island with a light beam pointing to the sky. i mean, cmon. what else could you possibly ask from a single game dev?

4. mounts pet companion etc will be added. the dev responded to the feedback quite literally like a high school female student on top of her libido and is having a huge crush on you.

5. various mob (need more bosses and uniques). Lucas, please take a serious attention for this. this is really a good selling point of sales and attraction.

6. free roaming at it best. here you're as free you could possibly ask. with the destructible environment system you reach 100% capabilities of free roaming. you can put a hole in an island until it reach it's bottom sole and fall from the sky, you can still glide/fly upwards when that happen.

7. So far as i know there are 5 CELESTIAL being called a DEMI-GOD. each with it's own representative element. i mean, this is quite literally pumped me up for this game.


By all honesty, this game is one of the most interesting game i have ever played, the sensation of finding and discovering something new (without peeking to any form of guide) is Elden Ring tier. And the developer are one of (if not) the most informative and quick response developer i have ever known. THIS GAME IS WONDERFUL!

The negative reviews for IoE seem to ignore the clear statement from the developer in the game description.

It's not finished. It's not close to finished.

It -is- entertaining. I've never died to an angry chicken and then been spawn-camped by said angry chicken before. Or had a rock fall out of the sky and casually murder me. Or get completely owned by a group of irritated pixies. But now I have and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm looking forward to the direction this game takes and the myriad ways I can get unalived creatively.

I think it's promising, but it feels too early for Early Access.

Graphically the game looks pretty good. There's a large variety of enemies, lots of weapons and gear, and various islands that have some semblance of different biomes.

Combat is... Dreadful? Is that the word I'm looking for? I think it is. There doesn't seem to be any AI for the enemies other than approaching you and attacking. It is a very mindless hack 'n slash style combat, and after just a few levels you'll likely have good enough gear to take very little damage if any from combat. So you'll just mow through enemies without much reason to vary any of your attacks or spells. You'll get a lot of loot, and good luck figuring out what's an upgrade/downgrade because the game doesn't exactly help you out there.

I did enjoy the magic, even though I only found what appeared to be a handful of the spells that will be available. Combining spells is probably the only reason I kept playing. Being able to light a tornado on fire is rather enjoyable.

There are quests, but the questing system was all but broken for me. I would occasionally have a point directing me towards a quest, and back to the quest giver. More often than not it just referred me to a quest that I'd already finished without telling me anything useful.

Traversal is slow. Painfully slow. The world is pretty big. I got a longstrider spell that allowed me to go faster, for about 2 seconds. Thanks, I guess? You can fly on a whim, but even that isn't exactly a fast method to get around the world. Even then unless you've got an active quest pointing you back to a town you might just choose to kill yourself as a faster way to get there.

Overall I enjoyed it, but I don't expect to be back for more time on the Isles of Etherion for awhile.

Isles of Etherion still needs quite a bit of optimization to go. I have a pretty decent PC that can run other games like New World at higher settings. However with Isles of Etherion I have to change the settings to Low to not see my PC freeze up. Going from Medium to Low settings is like going from PS2 graphics to PS1. The environments unfortunately looks like a melted stitched painting with these settings which hinders my experience trying to learn the game.

You begin the game thrown into a tutorial setting unclear of why you're there and where to proceed. Once you wander around and find your place you'll hit tutorial dialogue but the instructions are unclear and there is no objectives added to your log to review after. The dialogue uses text to speech voice overs which doesn't sound great. I would prefer to have no voice overs compared to the voice we hear from the tutorial or AI in the game. There's quite a bit of work needed for the text in-game as well. I noticed a few things off, notably the mining skill is referred to as the "Minning" ability.

When you encounter enemies to fight there is no indication you've been hit or being damaged which doesn't feel right. You do have a health bar that basically is depleted after 1-2 hits but you don't see any of that registering on screen.

I understand the game is by a solo developer which is quite ambitious for a game of this scale. In the games current state I'm not able to play it further to provide additional feedback until it's more optimized. I'll check back in the games state after some further updates. First thing I hope to see improvements on is optimization and the tutorial.

Not in it's current state for the price. THere are some cool things trying to be implemented here, but if you simply choose Demon and fly above every enemy, they can't fight back. Stand at the front of the enemy airship and cast your tornado and watch it defeat the entire army. It's not a bad game, but I don't think 17$ worth

dont buy it if you expect to play a game.
its not early access its barely beta, feels more like alpha.

im keeping an eye on this one, cause i like some directions that i think are there.

I am an original Kickstarter backer from June 2018. It is impressive how far this game has come while being worked on by a single individual. However, this game is not yet at a stage where i would recommend it to the greater public. This game is very much Open Beta (as the Early Access states) and is more for those looking to be part of the creation process, finding bugs, joining the discussion with the Dev and other open beta testers. Sadly, this is just not for me and i cannot yet recommend this to the general gamers out there.
Luna Orion, keep up the hard work! I hope to come back in the future and try again, and change this review. Good luck and may the coding gods smile upon you!

First things first, I want to give props to the developer for being hugely ambitious with this game.

Now with that said, Isles of Etherion is lacking a lot of polish. Like a lot. Sounds cutting out, "high" textures not loading in properly, the world looking like glossy clay, UI being unintuitive and cluttered, AI is missing that all important intelligence. The list could continue but I think you get the point.

What I will say is though, it's hilarious for a good 20 minutes. Multiple times I said to myself that I can't believe this game exists. So I do have to thank it for making tears stream from my eyes.

If you're like me and enjoy a good giggle then you may as well try it out. If however you want a good "game" to play, then maybe hold off for a few more updates.

Don't bother right now..Game is a mess..glitches my pc out eats 16g of ram like it was nothing

Before I write my Impression of the game here I just wish to congratulate the developer for getting this far on his own doing what he loves to do in a very ambitious way.

Isles of Etherion for me was not enjoyable as I kinda didnt know why ii was there what i was doing or why i should even care, which too me, should be the first thing a RPG does make you feel like ok i know why im here, i know what i must do!
The magic spell system to me is a mess, the combat animations are not smooth and well the levels are ok, but not very well put together (IE falling through the world)

The mining is a good concept, but not implemented well in my opinion but then after all this is just MY OPINION and with all the updates the game is getting I am willing to try this again a bit later on too see if its changed.
