Game is too easy
Is there any way to play it on hard on my first playthrough or do I have to beat the game first? It seems boring to just button mash until I can play it with a decent challenge to it

Necro, you haven't even gotten to the end to see any difficulty ramps, and find it too easy. You wouldn't last on a harder difficulty. You also only have 1 achievement in the game, but yeah, apparently button mashing didn't get you very far in easy/normal let alone hard, and extreme, etc.

The game is just too boring to justify playing it any further. You probably wouldn't get it. Please also check my achievements on actual hard games, like Devil May Cry 5, Risk of Rain (2013), Blasphemous and Furi. I also completed God of War (2018) on GMGOW difficulty, but that's on PS4.

Your reasoning is way off. Have you read what I wrote? I'm specifically asking for a way to up the difficulty in my first playthrough so it could be more engaging to get to the end, yet your answer is for me to just... get to the end. You see, I don't care if you think this game is hard and feel injured as I say it's way too easy for my tastes, I just want some kind of cheat to unlock the hardest difficulty. Your words have not helped even a little bit, but I hope you felt relieved getting these feelings off your chest.

What games actually let you unlock maximum difficulty with a cheatcode from the main menu?

I only care to check for this game. The only achievement you got was "Start the game." I'd understand if you at least had one for a boss or stage, but you don't... lol. You didn't even play the game to decide if it was easy. You can throw around the names of other games all you want... if you even played this to have an opinion, but you didn't. I'm not going to compare this to other games either, none of the games you listed are "hard," nor are they a measurement. I also found this game after craving more Platinum games... but I didn't say the game was too easy when my only achievement was "Open the game."

lol.

And no, my answer wasn't "get to the end." My whole point was you never even played, never even fought a boss, in a game that could take an hour or two for the first playthrough... but don't have enough brain cells to muster sitting through 5 minutes of it and already want to up the difficulty, when a microwave brain like that, wouldn't last two seconds playing the exact same game... just with more health and faster bosses... lol. *BEEP* Your TV dinner is done.

I have nothing against giving people maximum difficulty at the start, what I'm saying is you can't even dip your toes into the first two.

And I'm not here to help you; nobody is. You need to pull yourself up from your boot straps. I hope posting about a game being too easy when you didn't even play more than five seconds without Ritalin, then dropping it, made you feel like you're moving fast. Gotta go fast. Thank you for posting your own personal blog and I hope you got some relief from it.

Devil May Cry 3 had this cheat code at the main menu, and Devil May Cry 5 requires you to beat the first boss (when you're expected to lose). Many games have the maximum difficulty unlocked from something else that's not just beating the game, but I honestly can't remember them.
In fact I was not only looking for cheats, as I was also hopeful someone would come and tell me the game's painfully boring difficulty at the beginning was not a representation of the whole thing, and it'd get better soon enough.
Well I think I'll just get a save file from somewhere.

From now on I'll answer only the small parts of your replies that don't sound like a child throwing a tantrum and just ignore the rest of it. Tell me what are some hard games then, boy. You keep talking about my achievements, yet your profile is private, and I bet you have nothing to show. Also, it would fit you well if you learned some respect.

while i can agree that the game is easy on Normal, you kind of already know the name of the game is combo building and replayability on harder difficulties, as you mention Devil May Cry 5 which also has a rather boring default difficulty to start with.

you're clearly no stranger to character action games, so why even bother asking this question? you do your first playthrough on Normal, get all your abilities and breeze to the end, replay on a higher difficulty with your maxed out kit. it's practically indistinguishable from the usual formulae of old school PS2 character action titles, minus the on demand training room, complete with janky animations and no English dub for authenticity. lol

Well I just hoped there was a way to make my first time more challenging, I don't know. There's lots of character action games that would give that option. As an example, DMC 5 made it so that you can get DMD unlocked by beating the first boss (that you weren't supposed to). I think that's genious design.

Anyways, I just finished Assault Spy on Normal, with both Asaru and Amelia. I'm not really into replaying games though, so I'll just leave it like that. Also, I read the higher difficulties mostly just bump up enemy HP, so I'm really not that interested. But well, it's a fun and charming game, the standard difficulty is kinda boring, but still, it's a nice love letter to the genre.

Eh, furi i never played, but DMC5 can be more frustrating than hard on some particular enemies like Furies.

It's actually pretty damn easy though.

Try actually playing them on the hardest difficulties and compare them to Assault Spy on Normal, please. I don't know why are you guys being so dishonest about it. Or at least name some games that you think are hard.

That's not how this works.......

If a game is hard on it's hardesr difficulty is irrelevant if we're comparing starting difficulties, and by that metric, DMC5 and Assault Spy are both disappointingly easy on Normal. The only threats are the bosses which are only hard because you can't stunlock them and they do a lot of damage with a single attack, or have some other gimmick like time control or teleportation.

Normal difficulty on both games is the metric which this particular title is being judged. It's more dishonest to compare DMC5's Dante must Die to Assault Spy's Normal as if that abolishes DMC5's other difficulties from criticism or makes Assault Spy look harder.

The truth is, neither game is difficult on their respective versions of "normal".

I think you're missing the point. I only mentioned those other games because that guy was inferring that I'm somehow bad at games because I had only one achievement on Assault Spy. Yet he conveniently avoided mentioning my achievements on other games, which would show I'm used to playing hard stuff (like the harder modes on those games).

Also, I was able to play DMC5 on DMD almost from the beginning, just by beating Urizen on Prologue. I think the game was more enjoyable like that. In Assault Spy I'm forced to play through the entire game on Normal, which is way too easy and way too boring, and that's the reason why I originally made this topic. So what I'm really comparing are the hardest difficulties available from the beginning in each game.

Well, for the genre circumventing the difficulty is not the norm. All Character action games, aside from cheats, demand you beat them on normal first in order to unlock the higher difficulties. Ninja Gaiden did this, DMC did this, God of War did this, Bayonetta did this, and Assault Spy does this. Technically if you activated the "skip" in DMC5, you proved you were able to handle the harder difficulties, but that is by far not the norm for any one of these games. The genre is designed to be replayed and improved at, so circumventing the unlock process is defeating the point.
