Nudity but self censoredship

I have beaten the game while there are some full back nudity, why is there lack of full frontal nudity. I did bought the artbook and I did notice that page 6, we do see actual breast of a female character's actual breast (I believe it is Nari and the breast is sketch). It doesn't make sense if they put this particular image in the artbook but not letting it to be present in the game itself.
Is there actual reason for this at all?

No, there is not a particular reason. We just decided that this Larry game does not need nude scenes to be a good game, so we left them out. :)

Not to sound mean but I find it hypocritical for you guys since you did allow nonliving objects to have frontal private parts such as:
* silicone breast and some kind of man junk material at the adult store
* giant size man junk as a building
* female demon statue that has breasts at lower level of the club
* man junk logo front of the store

We also see Larry interacting to statue of demon lower area which you guys did censored it on e-shop and other certain platform.

Heck you guys even show actual nipple of Nari within the game which it can barely be seen when getting her instacrap #12.
I am not saying the game needs to be hardcore but you guys need to be consistent overall not just if it living being or not even if it only few characters. Even some of early Larry games did technically have some frontal nudity such as women breast can be seen which some are use in humorous way, user must figure out how to unlock it, or just congratulation ending.

I can understand that you guys want to honor policy of various digital and physical store, and you guys are company that want to make profit. You guys could do what what highware did with their Leisure Suite Larry game which they made censored version for certain countries' game console and various digital store while they made uncensored/full content for PC and certain digital store without them needing to anything.

There are some companies that censored their game but they made a downloadable patch either from their website or from well respected modding site. There are also some companies sell their game directly from their website, popular auction site (I probably can't name it), and well known largest retail store (I probably can't name it) while they advertising various media.

Probably a good point, however I am personally not too deep into what restrictions we had and where we needed to adjust certain things. (I started working here long after the release).

There is a point where we need to examine the spirit of the original Larry games, and what they meant.

In each age, Leisure Suit Larry has challenged the censorship and expectation of that generation's video games... in the name of horrible, horrible humor.

Let me tell you what insulting censorship is.



The fact that Larry can poke a hole in the side of the toilet, while a girl is on that toilet, and have absolutely zero comments about trying to peer through that hole?

That's insulting censorship. That's the first thing Larry would try to do. And get killed for doing.

The fact you can gather various things - a lens, a toilet paper roll - that could potentially make it possible to see through that hole and be scarred for life - and you did nothing?
It's insulting censorship.

But perhaps worst is the "Easter Egg" that never was.
It's the reason I stopped looking for secrets. I correctly interpreted your "build your own easter egg".

You were waiting for someone to Mod this game. You left all the assets to do it, in friendly and easily-accessible places. It's as simple as a sprite swap - A to B, repackage it, done. And if someone modded the game so the characters were always naked, then whee! There's your nudity - and no culpability, to boot!

You were hoping someone would come along and do your dirty work for you, so you could have clean hands.

Some criteria I remember from work when the company I was sponsored a movie, we had a lot of documentation of requirements, criteria and all kind of weird things for some countries in Europe/North America. Do think for gaming its different but there are more criteria for that as well and for some also fall under content rating I think.
Anyway these I still remember:
(Note these are from several years ago and was also for other countries)
- One country finds violence, hate and massacres fine but don't you dare put a female part exposed.
- Another country finds almost everything fine, as long as it doesn't make them bad historically/currently/futuristic, disagrees with their ideas, puts their neighbouring countries in a good light or any way like that. On other hand if you promote in propagande way then you can get big discounts.
- Another one is where christian faith being unfairly put in bad light, though it can be accepted if you can explain it is meant to be interpreted in a way. But boy do not make their country a bad guy or people in general as you risk a fine. No promotion of communism or facism (tbh cannoit disagree on that one)
- Violence was accepted but depending on the amount you could get different rating, but they were very lenient in it. Everything else was allowed, only sexual activity determined the rankings.
- Oh another one I remember was something with food, if something poisonous but good edible looking was promoted you could be blocked. And no smoking, only allowed if could be proven if really was required for story or moment.

Exactly. This is basically a mine field of things you could either do wrong or get in trouble for. If one sends a game into the age rating, there can be a lot of things that limit you in any way, that you definitely need to address or change, if you want to be able to sell your product in any country or platform. Sadly not much you can do about.

😂 Okay. We'll see how their sales do. They have more reviews and a higher percentage rating than any other Larry game on Steam, so it doesn't look like most of the community for what was always gonna be a pretty niche product is all that upset by Larry having grown up a little in 30 years.

I've been playing the series since I was sneaking it around my parents on bootleg floppies in 1990, and the presence or lack of a pixel nipple has never been what made these games good or bad.

These latest entries into the series are Larry in name only. Everything after Love for Sail has been massively underwhelming. They may have bought the IP rights - but everything else is all wrong. The art, the writing, the voice-overs - none of it fits. It's missing its SOUL - that soul being of course Al Lowe. Without him, there is no Larry - just cheap imitations to make a quick buck. I'm not sure how they fared financially when all was said and done, but as a long time LSL fan it truly saddens me to see where the series has ended up. None of the rights holders are interested in doing it any justice. Larry deserves better.

Sure Larry is different from before, but some things just need to evolve. Nudity for example can't just be put into a game these days and be shipped without further issues. A new design for Larry way basically done every game (See the Artbook for more). New voice-overs and writings therefore just need to be done new as well. One cannot always meet the same style as it was before and this is just a regular development. We are sorry if some people do not feel that the new Larry is an improvement, but we are quite happy with our take on him and, as far as the reviews speak, this is what the majority of our customers think as well. Sure this does not reflect the opinion of everyone or of all time fans. Still, we hope that the new series still brings some people back the nostalgia they wished for.
