Does this run on a 32 bit system?
I know the requirements do not specify that 64 bit SO is required but I just want to make sure before I buy. Save the comments of "huh whuh uses 32 bit today?" to yourselves

If you're running a 32bit OS, the game probably will run poorly anyways. Most modern hardware (afaik) only works on 64-bit systems. And the maximum amount of RAM for 32-bit is 4GB, so that leaves a very small amount for the actual game once the OS takes it. Either way, you can buy it and try it. If it doesn't work, you've got 2 hours of playtime to refund it. Steam's refund policy is very generous. It's a very good game, so I'd say it's worth a try. I couldn't tell you 100% if it does support 32-bit.

-EDIT- In running the game and checking the task manager (which quite reliably shows if an application is 32 or 64-bit) it shows that it's 64. So you may be out of luck. It might request a 32-bit build from Steam servers though if you have a 32-bit system (if a build exists) so who knows.

How does one go about requesting this?

Hi,

Unfortunately the game is only in 64 bits. We forgot to add it in the Minimum Spec on Steam page. We will update this one asap. Thank you for pointing it out.

Well what I meant by that, was that some devs can set it up so a game can request for a 32-Bit build (if the user's hardware necessitates this) automatically from the Steam servers if it was compiled as such. I didn't mean that the user would request that, because it isn't as simple for the devs to just flick a switch and make it 32-Bit unfortunately.

well if you have some way to play it on a 64 bit system I would definitely keep it, but as for 32-bit, I can't speak to whether you should hold out for it. I think honestly for the developers it really isn't worth the effort to have to refactor a build of the game to work on 32-bit, since such a small portion of the install base have that older configuration. So unless you know you'll be able to play it on a 64-bit system in the future, then I guess I would refund it. Unfortunate because it's a fantastic game, but I guess there's no sense in owning a game you can't play. Also, no problem for the information.

I once bought a game that required a 64-bit OS... (Ori and the Blind Forest) since 32-bit couldn't provide the memory it needed.

I could have refunded, but I chose to hold out for several months (or maybe it was over a year) but I eventually got a computer upgrade and was able to play it. The wait was worth it.

THIS game is worth your money and time. Even if you have to wait to upgrade.

Yeah, you're right. I am the one running the archaic machine. I'll refund it and repurchase it at a later date once I upgrade. It's just a shame though as I've been a huge promoter of this game. Ever since I played Haggleman 3, the last unlocked game in Retro Game Challenge 1, I've been screaming for a full sized Ninja Gaiden Metroidvania. Now it's finally here. Anyway, thanks again. I apprecaite you listening to me and offering your advice.

I hear what you're saying. I do really need to finally go 64-bit. I almost entirely only play retro styled 2D games that are low spec, so It's almost never been much of an issue till recently.

BTW Jeff, I can confirm that Ori and the Blind forest is not a 64-bit required game. I've played both editions on my computer. It was one of the earlier Steam games I acquired. You can even check my library. I've logged 37 hours into the Definitive Edition.

---

Thanks again everyone.

Again, not a problem to offer advice. Just gonna throw in here that I loved retro game challenge. I didn't finish it, but I will definitely get around to it at some point. I also understand the difficulty of upgrading from 32-bit. It unfortunately isn't as simple as just getting a 64-bit OS, because you need to have a CPU that supports it, too. In addition to that, if you're getting a CPU that supports it, you'll also need a new motherboard to hold that CPU as the socket type will likely be different. On top of all this, you'll probably need new RAM too, because 4GB is not really enough for a modern 64-bit OS. All-in-all, it's a big headache, and expensive so I understand why you haven't upgraded yet. Of course, if all you're really doing is playing retro-styled games as you said, then you've really had no need to upgrade.

I am kinda confused. I have a relativly new Gaming PC with good specs and it runs on 64bit but when i start either of the 2 edition and look at the taskmanager it always says 32bit. This is not a problem because both games are running perfectly smooth and with awesome grafics. I am just a bit confused why.

Hm not sure what you mean by "2 editions". For me there is only 1 executable, and when looking in the Task Manager, it doesn't show whether it is 64 or 32-bit. I can assume it's 64.

Dota 2 ships with 32 bit and 64 bit in the same package to cater to both. You choose whichever performs better.

Then you get applications like photoshop which ships 32 bit and 64bit seperate

This game is amazing. And rather don't refund it, because the day you get a 64bit device you are upgraded and already own this, so you can just install 232mb download and voila, sexy game unleashed @ori

Oh yeah I know other games ship with 2 executables, but this one doesn't as far as I can tell. And yes, I agree do not refund the game. I would just wait until you get a 64-bit platform, and have at it. It's a really great game, and the new Picnic Panic free DLC just came out, which I hear is amazing. I haven't played it yet, but I will soon after playing Blazing Chrome some more!
