can this be played in windowed mode

i want to play rrt2 in windowed mode so i can play it on a different monitor does anyone know how to do this or know of a mod that would make it be able to be done because there is no option menu to change it

Not sure if you can. Knowing what you already said I would look into your graphics card options maybe you can launch this game in a window mode through your graphics card software.

If I recall correctly F4 toggles between windowed and full screen. Maybe another F key.

I think there are also some restrictions on the resolution and colour depth (16 bit) for winowed mode to work.

I have the old cd version but it was some years since I last played it so I might remember incorrectly.

To play with windowed mode what worked best for me was to go to this forum:

At first the links seemed broken but they work fine when you make an account and sign in.
Before replacing the exe you want to enable only update when launching in steam for rrt2, because steam updates will replace the user made patch by the official one. After doing that go to your ...Steam\steamapps\common\Railroad Tycoon 2 Platinum folder and extract the exe replacing the old one, now all you need to do is make sure you don't launch through steam.
I also copied the steam.dll from the steam folder to the railroad tycoon 2 platinum folder.

Hope this helps, for me it also fixed the game sometimes crashing and minimizing when loading a campaign mission.

Thank you for linking the patch, I had no idea it existed. It did not get windowed mode working for me but I think the gameplay enhancements were worth downloading it.
