How far can you make it as F2P Player?

Is it like Lost Ark where when you don't pay you won't make it far in the game unless you grind for years?

Premium allows your own island without it you lose huge chunk of game. But if you just wish to do pve and enjoy the game premium ain't needed if you wish to enjoy pvp is mandatory since you will lose your ♥♥♥♥ and need to make new ♥♥♥♥ meaning either you sacrifice your life and play this game like its your second job or you pay. So ye pay to have fun or work to have fun sometimes. This game is p2w, but I play it for pve and I try my best to avoid all the pvp since its just garbage and revolves around ganking no tactics nothing just blob of people killing smaller blobs and avoid bigger blobs. Only way to have fun as free to play player is pve and avoiding taking risks.

Premium gives no power bonus, and 50% extra exp for ACTIONS, but not for things like tomes of exp. You also get "50% more loot", but you'll see very quickly this means jack all with the way loot works in the game (also, just have someone who DOES have premium in your party open the chests).

Nothing about the premium is P2W, and you will NOT be left behind by not having it.

The island is farmville simulator for some extra silver, so I wouldn't call it a HUGE part of the game, but I guess it's an extra 200k for me every 23 hours, which is the same as I make in a 15 min t7+ dungeon on average, so there's that.

Leveling in this game is extremely fast when you concentrate on 1-2 builds.

About half the people I know use premium, the other half doesnt. Most people i know use silver to buy the premium, a few just pay the couple of dollars to get it, but I don't know many people who buy gold (to turn it into silver or skins).

I never pay IRL money to play, just earn in-game silver to buy my premium. The first time I did it was the most arduous, took me almost 30 days (playing just a couple of hours per day) to earn enough silver to buy 30 days’ premium, but once I had premium it took significantly less time to earn the next 30. As I level up and invest in things, that time keeps getting shorter. Also the earning gets more fun as I become more able to earn from chests or fighting mobs, plus earn more at minimal time cost from farms on my islands, as opposed to depending totally on hours spent fishing & gathering for my game income.
