Enchantment level versus real tier
Read in another forum that the tools and weapons made with uncommon or higher materials (so called enchanted ) can be treated equivalent to higher tier ones.

e,g, An Adept's Broadsword (tier 4) made with rare iron and leather could be called a 4.3 sword. The OP said that add the 4 and the 3 then subtract 1 and get 6 then this should be equivalent to a tier 6 sword.

Is this about correct? Any comments and/or additional data? I have stacks of rarer materials and would love to improve my tools.

Tools are all blank tier except fishing rods.
If you are looking for better tool check out avalonian tools that have passive 10% yield bonus but have extra high cost to repair. Not worth it in most cases IMHO.

Tier 4 tools are cheap so check at market place that they are not even worth repair. Materials used crafting them are worth more and useful on other crafts. Tier 4 is fast tier to level up so don't over think it.

Best advice is just to get highest tier tool and use it for fastest gathering.

add the two numbers together.

4.1 = 5
4.2 = 6
4.3 = 7

Look at item power to see the exact difference.
I finally figured out that they let you make these only with weapons, armor, clothing etc but not tools. A darn shame as a 4.3 pick is just what I would dream of.
also for quality if you have masterpiece it counts as one tier. so
masterpiece 7.1 = normal 8.1
masterpiece 7.1 = masterpiece 8.0
