There is a 10 second logout timer from what I have seen. I would then assume that if you disconnected instantly, you would still exist in the world. Most games with negative effects on death do something like this.

I was disconnected yesterday, and when trying to log back in I had "account in use" pop up. This would further back up the above statement. You have to wait for the server to kick you/log you out.

After testing it with a Guild Member, They said that there was no death after disconnect, after logging back in I confirmed that there was no death.

There is a 60 second log out timer in red yellow or black zones, so even if you quit your character still remains in the world until the timer is done.
