Can't pick up money/loot?

So, is there not individual drops or something? Money keeps getting taken or put on cooldown. I was fighting a Heretic boss in Redwood, I think, and some guy comes up and hits it a few times after I did, but then I can't pick up the money he dropped upon death? Is the game designed to punish helping others?

I believe the reward goes to the player who does the most damage, don't quote me on that but that seems how it works. If there is a timer when you try and pick it up its the other players reward.

So to answer you question, no its not really geared toward cooperation.
