I am pretty certain any stag can drop a fawn, regardless of zone color. The drop rate is just very low (somewhere between 0.1% - 0.2% | EDIT: database says 0.12%). In the grand scheme of things, this isnt that rare considering if you are a skinner youll take out hundreds of stags in a T4 outing. I have 3 stag fawns in a chest waiting to be raised.

This is also just one type of rare mount. Others can be handled in different ways; swiftclaws only drop in dungeons (AFAIK) and must be raised in a kennel opposed to a pasture (which is where you raise them - pasture for grazers / kennel for meat eaters).

All things considered, I dont find stags to be all that useful. They have better capacity than a horse, but have low defenses. I prefer using an armored mount and banking often opposed to carrying so much that if I get dismounted I am automatically dead.

Thank you for the info it just seemed like when I was researching for raising rare mounts they where doing the grinding to find them in black zones (at least when I looked it up on YouTube) but I thought to myself that doesn’t make sense not ever one wants to do that and risk everything to find them there.

I think its more of a situation of having the land in the black zones and having less competition. After a certain point in the game, most people spend their time in black zones. Its generally less risky than a red zone (depending on guilds really).

I can probably kill 10x more stags in a black zone than I could on the royal continent. The potential risk is well worth the overwhelming reward.

True but if you are a solo player black zones are not your best friend with a guild yes specially when they have lands in that zone
