I play as a full tank build at all times
Knights Helm, Chest and boots, Sarco Sheild, and broadsword.
granted my damage might not be sky high, but its not bad at 104dps, along with hamstring that lasts for much longer then other weapons, and several sheilding abilities to further lower damage.
My basic attack damage mitigation is a staggering 72% and that gets further increased with shield abilities.
Now of course there are counters to every build and this one is no different. But i think a mage as a second would be the exact perfect backup to a tank fighter.
In PvP it takes 2 or 3 people to take me down with any kind of speed. 1v1 i can usually win regardless of what im facing... and im by no means some kind of PvP god... its just this gear is that effective vs people not used to facing tanks in pvp.
just some food for thought anyway.
yes this is from Arena experience... but 2v2 Hellgate is very similar in the fact you are facing a set number of opponents.
I do not know how well this would play out in open PvP, but im confident in its abilities and the build as a whole.
Granted i think the player is the most important factor of any build, and for me, this works.
as far as people not knowing how to counter tanks effectively that's not just this game... its almost EVERY MMO. No one wants to play a tank, everyone wants to play the "OmgL33TDmG" dps'er... without actually learning the classes or knowing effective counters.
In most MMO's i play a tank in PvP and ive yet to be disappointed.
