How does this compare PCSX2
How does this compare to playing an original PS2 copy using PCSX2 and cranking the options up?
Anybody played it on both?

The only one reason for playing this version is 60 fps support and new control scheme.

The original PS2 version ran at 60fps.
Wut? PS2 didn't output at 60FPS.

Nope. Do not confuse frames, fields, display frequency and game speed. If the frame is not updated, the screen shows the previous frame until the frame is updated. All ps2 games has 30 fps max but many games has less than 30 fps. For example in Shadow of the colossus game runs at 15-20 fps but output image has 60 fields (ntsc)
Ace Combat games on PS2 where 60fps, so not totally, in fact a bunch of games on PS2 are 60fps

omg its analogue signal, no digital so it converted to video stream before displaying on screen. you see 60 fps video but ingame engine creates no more than 30 fps.
its 60 frames a second, MGS2 and Tekken 5 for example, unless your talking about somethng else

well, okay, you right. but onimusha does not exactly have constant 60 fps, especially in the cutscene, they are 30 fps. On the PC, the game is much smoother than on ps2. I compared just now

The emulator is trash because when you increase the resolution all the 3d objects get messed up

thats because of widescreen hack. if disable it and play 4:3 everything is okay

Not true, play Burnout 3 for some of the smoothest frames you'll ever see

I was just playing the game yesteday on PCSX2 and there was no 3d objects messed up. But the game looks blurry even with the increase the resolution.

Its leauges different, despite the small QoL improvements, but either ways, it should compare similary to the old non-steam pc version, since that one let you skip cutscenes though.
I was able to skip through cutscenes with this version by pressing start and screenshot(back or whatever that button is called) on my ps4 controller.

I actually worked on a renderer used in several PS2 games. The PS2 could absolutely do 60fps. Most developers, however, preferred to double their cpu/draw budget by running at 30fps.

For most games, this was pragmatically the best choice. Only games that absolutely needed smooth video (e.g. racing games) would go to the necessary lengths (which could be considerable) to get themselves running at 60fps.

Fields vs. frames and interlace vs. progressive are kind of moot points. If you wanted to run 60, you rendered the entire frame 60 times a second, period, even if you were only sending every other scanline to an interlaced display, because if you didn't render every scanline, the hardware flicker-fixer that toned down the interlace artifacts couldn't do its job.

Fun fact: The PS2 was technically capable of 720p and 1080i over a component connection, but there wasn't enough VRAM to make proper use of either, so the settings to enable those modes were never documented. I found them with some trial-and-error, though. :)

I'm sure i've seen videos that have shown Gran Turismo 4 running at 1080i on a PS2 as one of the options.

This is so wrong I don't even know where to start. The PS2 absolutely had 60fps games. CRT TVs had refresh rates of 60hz. A vast majority of PS2 games ran at 60fps - the native refresh rate of basically all CRT TVs at the time. Some games did not run at 60fps, like Shadow of the Colossus and you could definitely tell. Analog signals can absolutely output at 60hz/60fps.
