Linux version - terrible mouse lag
Hi again!

More issues an bugs! :D

Mouse has such a terrible lag in the game that it is pretty close to unplayable (1-3second lag). This happens both in fullscreen and windowed mode.
More samples from people with other hardware would be very valuable for pinpointing the issue wheteher it's something to do with the desktop or gpu setup.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 2700x
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070
Desktop: Gnome 3.28
Distribution: Manjaro Gnome

If any additional debug information is needed, I'm more than happy to provide! Thank you!

Are you also on gnome or on a different desktop? :)

Can confirm the mouse lag (and it feels a bit slow, but this could also be a sensitivity issue)
CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1231V3
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070 with nvidia blob driver
Environment: Arch Linux with KDE
Native Resolution: 1920x1200 (which is a 16:10)
(I a bought it a gog, so I'm using that version, but I first found this thread here)

EDIT: I was able to change the mouse sensitivity by changing "speed" under "[mouse]" in "~/.local/share/ags/Lamplight City/acsetup.cfg", but it's still lagging/stuttering.

Just noticed: for me windowed mode fixes the mouse problem (the game did set screen_def=scaling and windowed=1 in the config). But then the window is a bit bigger than my Desktop size, so I don't see the bottom of the game because it's hidden beneath my taskbar). I ended up with this config, hope it helps somebody else. Note that it also changes the mouse speed, just stick with speed=1.000000 if you don't want to change that.

[graphics] render_at_screenres=0 windowed=1 screen_def=explicit screen_width=1280 screen_height=960 [language] translation= [mouse] speed=1.500000

I ended up playing the Windows client with Proton because the Linux client didn't work on my Gentoo laptop.
So far the geme runs fine in Proton, achievements are working.

Might be https://github.com/adventuregamestudio/ags/issues/162 ? That bug depends on the polling interval of the mouse device and also whether scaling is in effect.

I wonder if changing the desktop resolution to the game's native resolution (so no scaling is performed) would also work around this.

I haven't bought this game yet, I'd like to know it can be played in Linux without too much fuss first.

Stay tuned: We're experimenting with different desktops and setups. The ones we've used for testing worked fine.

Its passable, though slightly clunky on my system, definatly has a delay compared to window mode.

Doesn't play nicely with ALT+TAB to desktop either.

Heavily configured awesome-wm

Its not terrible but quit annoying , which is less worse i guess., i also experience a sluggish cursor, on my windows.

windows 7 64 bits 8 gb ram gtx 750 ti 2 gb ram
and latest drivers for win7.

I have many hidden object games ( HOG in short) and the majority of the games allows users to use the default small windows hardware cursor which solves all the problems, thet solved them for me at least, i always use the default white arrow cursor if a game has the option for it.
maybe adding option to use the default cursor ( which is a white tiny cursor l but it works)

I bought my copy of the game on GOG.com and can not confirm the mouse lag on Linux. My desktop is awesome-wm as well and I would call it at least moderately, if not heavily configured.

gog copy here aswell... the cursor still feels 'laggy' i prefer the windows white default hardware cursor which i always use if a hidden object game supports it ( from the menu )
quad core 2.66 ( 2009 or something around that era) so it is also time to get a new one but ..... expensive , before Euros came (2002) many people had a new pc at elast every 4 years, now its >4 its almost double in a few months, so things got too expensive, life is expensive , thanks to the euro. currency.

Okay, so I took the plunge and bought this. Ubuntu 18.04, MATE desktop, using the trackpad on a Dell XPS 9360 (Intel Iris 540 graphics). I played for about an hour or so at my native resolution of 1920x1080, and found the game to be playable. Certainly no 1-3 second delay moving the mouse as reported by the OP.

I did notice the mouse movement was not as natural(?) as in desktop applications though. Then just on a whim I tried setting my desktop resolution to 1280x960. Wow, now all the animations are much smoother. I haven't actually played much with that setup, but I will probably do so going forward. [Except when streaming to my TV via the Steam Link, something weird is going on with the scaling there such that the top and bottom of the picture are "cut off" and so aren't shown on my TV.]
