put pump in water, make sure bottom part is submerged. then select the water job on it. it will pump until inventory is full, where it then doubles as a temp water storage. drain sinks do the opposite. put water where you want it.

Specifically, you need at least one of the water drop tiles in the placement overlay to cover the liquid you want to pump out. Don't put the hammer tiles in the liquid, that's where the pump goes and it will erase any liquid in those tiles.

The Hand Pumps are pretty much straight forward to use.
Except i have the feeling that Placing a Pump in water will remove it if you dont pump it by job in the pump.

The Dain Sink however i never used it before, or even understand how it should be utilized....
But still i haven found Lava before... and let all my Dwarves get Water straight from a pump.

I used a setup with a drainsink near a pump and a cellar level to drop water in, and to pump it back up... so that i can transfer water from far away sources near to the destiliery....

But this works only when the near pump is basically empty, or the drain will take water from the near pump aswell... so i wonder why should we bother with this at all since we can produce water at the farm....

I try to understand what the dev had in mind for this,,,

It would make more sense if the drain would collect from pump by job into the inventory or drain it into the world alternativly... so we would not need the second pump near the drain....

I got a big lake in the way of may elevator going down, it was so much that i didnt had the storage nor was selling an option, so i made a Reservoir to store it. I pumped it, dwarfs took it up and dumped it in the reservoir. Thats the only use i found atm for the drain

Did the exact same thing. Seems to server zero purpose, bc the drain sink takes water from elsewhere and sticks it into another place. To use it you use the hand pump, but if you are going to do that why not just use it from the source and dont bother with a reservoir. Kind of defeats the point.

Well the idea was to shorten travel times... but aslong as the farm produces water... i think getting water from the farm is always the best way...

They are going to be removing crafting water at the farm soon, when the water sources spawn water as it's used up.

That is Awesome, but I wish you could put the pump on a platform
