A note to Devs about Mushroom Oil
It's kind of a pain to work with. First of all, I need 5 shrooms to make 1 oil. Given how many things need the oil, not to mention the mushrooms themselves, it's pretty hard to keep any kind of reasonable stock of them.

There's also the fact that with how crafting in the game works, it needs to be 5 of the same mushroom for each oil. Which means if I set to craft 5, but I have 9 of a certain mushroom type, the crafting will get stuck until it gets that last missing shroom.

I know that constant exploration is an important aspect of the game, but that second point especially makes dealing with anything that requires mushroom oil really annoying.

Aside from that I am loving the game, learning and exploring and trying things out. This is honestly the only real thing (besides dwarves getting stuck on walls while digging down and finding crab shells) that I've had major issues with.

There is a shroom you can grow in the farm for it. I do agree about the recipes getting stuck though. Trying to make make the materials for mortar and I can't get anything because the bone ash recipe is stuck trying to use spider legs which I have one of instead of the 20 animal bones i have in storage.

Are you sure those work? I always keep at least 5 of those mushrooms made for food resources. I feel like they never get used for the oil though. i'll have to try next time I'm on.

They are shown in the list and I can set it to specifically use them but like I mentioned earlier setup to pick out the ingredient automatically has a tendency to get stuck on an ingredient you don't have enough of.

I actually have the order to craft Mushroom Oil twice - first one that uses ANY mushrooms, and then one specifically set to use the farming mushrooms. This way, I can ensure a constant supply, because whilst waiting for a missing shroom, the one for farmable mushrooms keeps going...

Aah, I get it now. Thanks!

I tend to just set strict requirements for any recipe needing multiples of an ingredient, even if I never create the other possible ingredients. Prevents both the recipe getting stuck (e.g. rails using one of the iron plates dropped from some environmental drop instead of the copper ones I keep a stock of) and it using resources that are rarer (e.g. bone ash using demon bones instead of animal ones, which can be bought).

I didn't even realise you could set strict requirements...

I'm now going to go back to my crafting orders and set it!
I've been stuck making leather because of the 'shoom issue.

noticed this alot. i believe every item has a set value and it will (if not specified) automatically go for the item with the highest value instead of going through and use the item with the highest quantity. seems like that is a missing string of code if you ask me
should be use highes item value if quantity is met if quantity is below x use next item value
