Monster spawning
having a great time playing, every new game i try something new and im enjoying the problem solving aspect.
Im not sure if its a bug or something else, but i would have thought that when you destroy a monster base that they stop spawning there. But no, what seems to happen is they seem to spawn incredibly large groups of tougher monsters.
Am i doing something wrong

Monster spawning happens over the map and apparently accumulates. So either mop up regularly or have problems with large mobs later on.

Yeah, there's random monster spawns in 'unlit' areas. The caves are just continual regular spawns of the same type, but the others are one-off.

That does not always work. Maybe it was/is intended - but I had rats and goblins spawn inside my building area with lights.

I think that also the type of floor affect the monster spawning.
I never notice spawning on granite floor only on natural floor, and I always put granite floor under my buildings.

For that matter, do doors have any function at all, presently? Rats and slimes just pass on through.

The fact that block floor stops spawns is a handy bit of info, as well.

this happen to me too. monster just run through the stone door. if they can't at least delay them then what the point of making them?

I've never seen them ride up an elevator, so i guess you need elevators connecting your hold to the lower mineworks as a barrier to their movement. I'll test that idea when I get off work.

Lairs stop spawning when you disable them, but monsters do wander around too, so you can still get attacked.
The light is not a barrier, but it stoops them from spawning in that spot. (unless there is some bug there) They can still walk in from outside the light though.
And yes, doors seem to be bugged.
