It would make sense though that a rock crusher would *not* be able to reclaim base minerals/elements etc from the built components - However, I would really like to see the printer be smart enough to take into account components dumped into it's inventory for calculating it's build lists. Or, a recycle button in it's UI panel that just scraps all of it's current inventory.
As it stands now, the blueprint preselects (which are a great idea themselves) start to become a bit useless over time as you still have to resort to manual counting of the individual components to prevent runaway accumulation (or else just keep dumping overflow components into a trash bin and wear the loss).
I don't think this change is intented, but think of it as a bug.
As Fury6 is talking about, I would love it too, if the 3d printer of the crusher would consider existing items in the (crushers) inventory ... on the other hand, printing of several blueprints in a row would be needed to be redone, as for now it would result into not printing any further items for additional blueprints down the row.
So it seems the devs were already way ahead of me. I just tested an idea and can confirm that the crusher's printer will indeed use any component items that you dump into it... HOWEVER, they need to be dumped into it's *Resources Inventory* rather than the printer inventory.
Not the same as a recycle function but good enough for me.
Seed pods are not a resource component for the printer - the printer can't *use* them for anything it can manufacture.
Having said that, I would definitely be on board for the inclusion of a recycling functionality somewhere, if not at the crushers then maybe at the trashcans or whatever.
