Kilopower is also one of the best ideas. NASA has had trouble producing a power source on the rover so far. Here they are already fantasizing about an atomic power source on Mars. Growing trees for Christmas in a greenhause is also a no-brainer. :)
I hear you. I just like the ascetic side as well. I also wish the power was fusion based but I do not want to complain about a game I like too much. We will not see a realistic fusion alternative in my time but by the time we can realistically go to Mars I would imagine we would be on at least the brink.
one Kilopower is around equal at 2 solar panels, it only gives 88 KW for it cost.
With solars pannels and fully extended batteries, it should make something robust too.
