I want widescreen cutscenes.

Already been achieved with emulators, but they come at a price, which is why Sega probably decided against widescreen cutscenes. With widescreen cutscenes, you see things that shouldn't be seen. NPC's popping in and out, NPC's freezing, objects popping in and out. I have seen Shenmue 2 cutscenes work in widescreen with emulators though, so i'm unsure why they decided not to go with it in these. Like you, i hope modders work on widescreen cutscenes.

My main modding desire is for improved textures. Some of the background textures on walls, npc clothing, etc. are horrendous

They'll probably replace Ryo with wierd character mods made for FF15. Or very least replace him with his S&ASRTransformed model.

With modding you could keep this game alive and kicking with fresh content indefinitely. New characters to play as. Back stories for the characters already established in the worlds. No locked doors (Meaning any house could be potentially visited and invited into.) and furnished homes. Completely new side quests. Have the ability to buy clothing. I mean the jacket, jeans, shirts and sports apparel shops are already there with competent NPCs. You just need to be able to set up a buy function. Even new arcade games could be added, new capsule toys, extended areas always blocked off in the game it self. The ability to stay up past your curfew. Make the ability to move out and into one of the vacant apartments and then furnish it to your liking. An online co-op mode. Wide screen should be the least of anyone's concerns. ^_^

Drive on with a hard on sir! And in saying that, Naomi got on my nerves. I think I would of much either preferred Minako Hirano working the counter at the Tomato Convenience store or Akemi Sato who I believe was a hostess at Bar Yokosuka and would always flirt in a sultry voice, but say Ryo was still too young. But my personal favorite is Hisaka Sawano from Hokuhoku Lunches at the docks. A very pretty homebody. There could be a mod that allows the game to have a dating sim feature in it and Ryo can pick and choose who he wants. ^_^

And a mod that would allow you to beat the crap out of anyone of your choosing. Those three young woman, who I reckon are in a gang, need a good thrashing around town.

And a better kitty simulator. As it is now you can only Look, Pet and Call the cat, with Quit being the fourth option (While interacting with the kitty.).

And make it more realistic where you need to eat to keep your stamina up. I would love to actually be able to buy a Tom's hotdog or go to any of the noodle places and actually buy food from them, sit down and eat or take it to go at the park, although that last bit might be asking for too much. Maybe be forced to buy a can of soda when you are thirsty.

And could you imagine completely new areas to explore? I mean there is already a bus. Surely people would make more places to visit besides just the harbor. Tokyo for instance. And all maps would be linked and you just pay the money, choose your destination and ride. Heck, ride the trains! Recreate the whole of Japan and the world even with the option for boats and planes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^_^

For two reasons...

1- They want to either sale DLCs for more money or to make you want to buy Shenmue 3 to continue with the story, although god forbid we go another two decades without another Shenmue... If people are allowed to just make their own content freely and easily, people may not bother with the newer game.

However I should point out that the modding community helped make the Half Life series what it is today and dare I say even Steam. But Valve gave a lot of their time and effort to help the community as well. Minus the Steam Pipe debacle, and even then it was not done to harm on purpose, I think Valve has done very well for it's fans and homebrew community, with the exception of pulling a Shenmue and keeping us all waiting for either Episode 3 or Half Life 3. I am just hoping they are waiting for a generation when they can pull something so wonderful and magical out of their hat that it wows us all, much like they did with HL2. And the modding cmmunity is still doing wonders with both the HL1 and HL2 game engine for it's mods/total converstions.

AND

2- They are lazy and just want to capitalize on old work because of Shenmue 3 that they had no hand in what so ever in coming out and will only do a barebones re-release of a two decade old game with just enough time and effort put in to make sure (hopefully) that it works on present day hardware.

I dislike Denuvo but even I know that's untrue.
Denuvo doesn't prevent modding!
