Is this game just anticommunist propaganda or is it actually worth playing?
The premise sounds interesting, but since Steam is full of red scare type of games that paint a historically completely inaccurate picture I'm asking. Is this actually a nuanced view on the situation and problems of the time or simply another propaganda piece?

Your character is a border guard. They do their job as best they can, and the politics only come into play when it effects how you do your job. the game doesn't pain you as a villain if your actions aid or oppose the rebellion.

the only thing I noticed from this is the descriptions of the characters that can be hired at your outpost. And so it seems like a story about honest hardworking customs officers who are looking for contraband and oppose bandits

Russians actually wish they could go back to this time, because they are sick and tired of dictator Putin, they have forgotten what communism was really about, check out this film from Finland 1986 named: Born American (Full x-rated bonus material as a bonus in separate video on same channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIJsZo8Fi3s&t=2656s&ab_channel=JohnSmith

Most of their communist quips should probably be fascist quips. Other than that, it's pretty generic verbiage you see in games of this type.

Communism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy.

It's a story about a border crossing in a small pseudo-communist country. It's not Checkpoint Charlie, it's a wholly unimportant place, if not for the domino effect your character has. The game doesn't really delve into economics or politics. It's pretty shallow on that front. The story is essentially "tyrannical government" vs "hypocritical rebels" and could be replaced with any other system of government with ease. The communism provides the aesthetic, but beyond that it doesn't aspire to much.

Thanks for all of the comments. I'm not looking for a political discussion. I have firm political opinions which you're not gonna change with some silly insults. Some of you have provided some helpful insights and I might give this game a try.

It's made by polish devs, so it certianly doesn't support communism, but it's not propaganda either, it's the life of a border guard in an authoratarian state trying to make a living.

the devs are polish so you can guess their "totally not biased views". it's slightly slandering but not enough to make it bad, but enough for me to look online on the subject.

It's pretty interesting but please do not buy it
