That's correct. Just like in real life. Your vehicle must not be overweight while you drive it.
What does confuse me though is when the vehicle does not match the description. Do I check the weight against the listed vehicle, or what the vehicle actually is?
The max weight you see on the vehicle registration card, is always the correct weight for the vehicle. So you compare it against the actual vehicle, not the incorrect vehicle type field.
For example, you see a Micros 26D roll in, but vehicle card says it's a Grazduk. The weight limit shown on the card is going to be 990, because that box is always correct, just like in the handbook, Micros26D is 990 kg weight limit.
