Stop Having The Game "Run As Administrator"
Every time I load into the game with friends, I have to shut off Discord and run it as administrator to use my push-to-talk key. Please fix this by making sure the game doesn't run as administrator.

Tried that on Discord. ROE overrides it when it starts. ROE does not have Run As Administrator checked.

There is a good reason for it being in admin mode. Admin mode is required to launch windows apis that let TenProtect monitor what processes are running that are accessing the games memory. These API's can only be launched with admin mode. Removing admin mode = more cheaters

How do you propose that other games with anticheat manages to implement it without the need for admin permissions on the entire machine?

That's a fair point. PUBG, Fortnite, and H1Z1 seem to be able to do it without too much trouble.

So what is Tencent doing where they feel the need to have admin permissions?

PUBG and H1Z1 have had cheater problems
Fortnite has the budget to prevent that

ROE doesn't have that budget so they feel like having these less practical methods necessary.

Thats the way I see it, but idrk.

All of those ask the first time you start them then remember the setting. Don't know why ROE can't.

I see others run their anti-cheat as a separate process that's running as Administrator (BattlEye and Punkbuster both do this). That's a little nicer as it puts a barrier between the game that processes untrusted data (stuff from other users / server) and the process with all of the privileges.

See, I'd buy into the whole conspiracy theory thing if Tencent hadn't already had their hands in every company out there right now. Activision Blizzard, Epic, Riot... All of those game companies have Tencent involved somehow.

BINGO!

Because the game wants to run as administrator, it wants to have priority over EVERYTHING, including the programs I use most often while playing (Discord, OBS, etc).

As long as you need to play as admin to start this game i wont play it. That easy it is. And because it is more like an arcade shooter it isnt too interesting for me. I would play some rounds but certainly not if the game needs admin rights on my whole machine.
