Anyone else annoyed by 30 minute timer?
Feels like i have to stress myself doing every try/jump etc perfectly in order to complete certain secrets....
Am i missing something?
If not i guess i can try out SlowTime mod

I've seen the same thing (feeling as if the time loop is too short) come up in many reviews of the game, and it really surprises me. The thing is, this game is not (supposed to be) mechanically difficult. With a decent grasp of the ship and jetpack controls, you should be able to get to almost any location in the (base) game in ~ 3 minutes or less, starting from Timber Hearth. However, you should note that some places have multiple entrances. The more shortcut-like entrances are usually hidden and typically have to be first used as exits, before you realize you can use them to enter the places quickly.

So if you feel like you don't have to time to explore a location even if you know how to get there, or you have to execute some difficult maneuver or somesuch, it usually means you haven't found or realized the way of getting there fast and easy.

Most things don't require precise timing and once you get used to the flying it takes almost no time at all to get back wherever you were.

Feel free to use a mod if it bothers you.

If you're only going to one place per cycle, it's actually a pretty substantial amount of time imo, since it leaves at minimum usually ~10 minutes to explore what's usually a small area (and it pauses when reading the text if set that way)

But yeah, nothing wrong with trying out the mod if it's getting in your way of enjoying the game

No I'm not, that's the whole point of the game !
Were you annoyed of the 3 days cycle in Majora's Mask too ?

well, think about it like this. if you mess up, you can always try next loop. you've got infinite time, in a universe where time has lost its meaning

Yes the timer is annoying. It's part of the game design and it produces stress, anxiety and drama. Drama is necessary for any entertainment to be interesting and engaging. In this game, you can experience some great feelings of discovery, breakthrough, achievement and relief. The game's timer exists specifically to give you these positive experiences. Without the timer, this game is a very tiny exploration game with some nifty mechanics and asthetics and not much more. Without the drama, this entertainment is bland, repetitive, simplistic and droll.

Now there is also a limit as to how much drama an individual is willing to experience. Sometimes you just want to eat something simple, just have quick sex, just take a nap, just bask in the sun, etc and you do not want drama or a challenge.

So I would suggest that you try exploring a large amount of the beginning game with no mods, and enjoy it for how it was designed and built. Then you may find a point where you want to just use a walkthrough, or turn on mods, etc. to remove drama and complexity and just get the satisfaction of completing the game.

TL:DR - Just try the game mechanic as designed for awhile and see if you get into it, there are a lot of activities hidden all over the place that don't require a lot of time or skill. Then proceed from there.

.......Does that go for the one-time-exits-only-portals aswell?

I'm not absolutely sure which portals you're referring to, and I would probably veer into spoiler territory by guessing. However, if my memory serves me right, there shouldn't be only-one-time-use portals or similar travel methods in the game, with two (sort of) exceptions in the base game and one in the DLC (all of which are rather special cases).

Its kinda funny cause Im more on the side of the timer is too long.
Or not too long but in 90% of my runs I either kill myself or use a specific mechanic (to avoid spoilers Im not saying which) to end the loop earlier.

Only once Ive run out of time while I still wanted to explore something.

30 minutes? last i played it was 20, 10 more minutes would be such a boon...
amills1 Aug 22, 2022 @ 2:45pm
I think it's 22 minutes according to some of the in game text. The time limit also serves a second purpose - some of the puzzles/obstacles are time based and require you to wait a while or be at a specific location at just the right time.

Look for shortcuts whenever you go somewhere secret.

The 22 minute time limit is not a big deal, what's actually annoying are the many secondary time limits, like oxygen limit, fuel limit and sand time limit

I can see the sand, but the oxygen and fuel limits are pretty generous with how many places you can refill both. For oxygen you have six minutes worth, which is a pretty substantial part of an entire cycle when most important places are either within about 15 seconds of your ship or have trees anyway.

I find the 22 min timer irritating as hell too. I'd like to spend time exploring all over the place without getting killed in such a short time. The Slowtime thing sounds interesting, I might give that a try.
