How to get past "Starlit Cove"?
I've been looking for a solution but the only one i found is to wait for the tower to fall but that literally gives you a single minute to go through the entire area and read 3 reels which is obviously impossible.

You can watch for the antlers of any passing guards to cross the light of the door and then book it. It also helps to draw them off to one side by flashing your light. It's an obnoxious section, no question, but doable.

How many of the other "dream" areas have you completed?

Have you entered the canyon temple with a reel in fire and solved the code ?
If you have this should lead you to 3 secret locations with clues for the dream world.
If you havent, you need to enter a secret room in the island tower
There is a cave at the right of the tower that will lead you to the room and to the roof of the tower
To open the secret room go to the island tower dream world and tho the left use the artefact to make the part with the raft appear and also a way to the same secret room inside the tower: switch off the candle in the room in the dream and go to the real room to find the code for the reel on fire temple rooms.

The other 2
This one is the only one that doesn't seem possible to skip while at the same time being as impossible to pass without skipping it as the other 2.

The archive in the Endless Gorge gave you a vital piece of information that will really help in the Cove. I'm guessing you don't know how to get past the part down the well? Think about what you've learned so far and how it could help.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

You are supposed to deal with the stealth
The first owl you can bait with your artefact and go around
The bell you can avoid by hiding your flame
The other owls you can avoid see their antlers in the dark when they patrol. jump above the rail and when you see the owl making his turn go straight in the direction of the portrait on the wall with your flame hidden

This actually worked, thanks.

You can apparently skip the whole stealth section if you disable the Ash Twin project since it gives you extra time before the reset. This DLC should've been in QA just a little bit longer specifically because of this. The forced stealth section feels really out of place in this game.

How is "cleverly using the information you learn to gain advantages" not peak Outer Wilds?
Besides that, the stealth sections can be almost fully skipped, like using the elevator in the gorge

The thing about using the atp tecnike is that it takes 20 mins per attempt so you better not mess up and die (and if you do use it you only get like an additional minute which isn't a lot and i doubt it's enough to watch the 3 reels + open the code cabinet).

Have you been reading this thread? There's nothing "peak" Outer Wilds when you're playing the game like an Amnesia clone. The specific section this discussion was even about cannot be skipped unless you're willing to either force yourself to stealth or wait until the pursuers drown outside of the simulation, which barely gives you enough time to actually explore the proceeding area.

The reason why it works for the anglers in Dark Bramble but not really in this specific instance is because you already know what to do, and it just sucks.

You can ride an elevator down to the vault if you're really fast, and by using the matrix mode you can clearly scout out the path ahead and realize that you only have to directly deal with one elk and can just walk past the others
Trust me I tried stealthing these sections and it sucked. Stealth isn't much fun against enemies you can't see. Which is why I appreciate the options the game gives you to get around them or make them a lot simpler.

Yea, that's the problem. You have to deal with that one pursuer regardless. There's no hidden passage that's revealed with the matrix mode, just the realization of "oh, this sucks lmao". Don't know what the devs were thinking but you only get like 30 seconds at most to actually explore if you wait until they all drown.

This is the one instance in the game where you get no other option besides exploiting the extended time you get from disabling the Twin Ash project or just repeating the loop until you go through all the reels each time. Just feels like they ran out of ideas rather than a well thought-out, clever puzzle.

You... shine your light on them for a second and walk around. Is that too much?
Tat011 Oct 11, 2021 @ 11:44am
You have to walk around them in complete darkness so yes, you better have perfect awareness of your position and orientation because otherwise you'll hit a wall, fall off or walk into them.
