Rocks - how do I throw using mouse?

I've selected rock using the mouse wheel. If I press Mouse 1, nothing happens. If I hold Mouse 2 to aim, I use the (noisy) slingshot. How do I aim and throw a rock?

Hold down the left control button.

Left ctrl for normal throwing, right mouse button to use the sling.

You have to hold down the control button first, and then press the main mouse button to throw.
