APTI uses a different saving system from LIS. It doesn't feature any C&C system that would affect gameplay so a collector's mode is not needed, unfortunately nor does it have any scene selection so you got to replay the whole chapter if you miss anything.
As for collectibles, it saves as soon as you grab it, your collection tab will then update and stays that way. You can actually see your later chapter collectibles on that trophy shelf in the castle.
As for items, I'm still not sure how it works. I saw a PS4 platinum guide that suggests playing Chapter 9 - 12 repeatedly if you wanna farm any materials(not any chapter, but in that specific order) so as to maximize your sling or pocket upgrades. It does work as intended, I guess it's the time when you unlock all materials, but before losing control with Amicia. You can of course, play Chapter 15 - 16 if you don't mind fighting bosses and hordes of guards. But I'm not sure how the item save inherits after Chapter 12 or 16 as I need further confirmation.
