Language to play?
I am native french speaker, but I usually play games in english as the native language of the game devs (or movies, series, etc.) is almost always the best version.

Since this game happens in france, should I play in french or in english still?

I asked them on Twitch earlier when they were steaming. They said they'd choose to play it in English, as they recorded all the voice lines in English first and the primary voice actors/actresses speak English. The other languages were recorded afterwards.

So, you could play in French for that authentic feel, but the primary focus was English.

I play it in french. Your language is beautiful. I think is unimmersive to have french people in a french game talking in english.

I'm Swedish but I do speak quite a bit of French. I usually play games in French to get better at it and this game was awesome in terms of voice actors and translation in my opinion.

Jouez en Français. Vous ne le regretterez pas! :)

I just played the demo and the voice casting is amazing and stick perfectly to the scenario. the voice acting is excellent.

As I said in answer to someone'else's post, I know the two version and the french one is the best one, and it is more logical to play the game in french as it takes place in France, not in New York, and the original version is the french one (the studio and the developpers are French) ...

I actually went with French first for my first time through the game. It works well enough... up until the English camp, lol.

I hear you. EGS just made the game free, so I'm giving it a whirl. I wish there was a language option for all characters to speak their native language. The English speaking French was jarring to me.

You people crack me up. "Jarring" The horror. You can handle the imaginations of hordes of rats breaking through the ground, or them transforming into a rat tornado, (and then every other game with supernatural circumstances), but my, oh my, French people speaking English (with a French accent at least) is jarring and un-immersive. I'm so glad I can look past some of the stupidest stuff people complain about. And then some other person complaining about her using a slingshot to dismantle armor. Jeez, people. Gamers these days. Imagination is broken or something... The joy of discovery, mystery, challenge, teleporting into another universe and experiencing what that game has created just for the sake of the game. Gamers need to start playing games with an open-mind again. I am still so excited to open up a new game and wondering what's behind the curtain. And I'll be damned if I let some voice acting get in my way of enjoying 99% of the rest of the game. I'm triggered. lol.
