Game Won't Start
This game ran fine yesterday when I played it, but this morning some kind of Prates-of-Something-or-Other DLC shows up and the game closes before it even starts. I didn't find anything in the patch/update log about this. What gives?

Thank you for the very detailed explanation!!!
But for me, it's already difficult with "DLC"! What does that mean?

Perhaps an explanation, I'm 61 and have only tried to install games from CD/DVD and have often had problems. Now here on Steam too. That's why it's a bit difficult.
Now I googled it, it's "Downloadable Content", i.e. additional downloadable content.

I haven't downloaded anything else apart from the games from Steam. I assumed that I would install the game and then play it. Shouldn't that be the case?
Now I have deactivated the DLC: Pirates of the flying Fortress.
Started the game and it quickly ended on its own.

copy the steam api from mount and blade warband where the exe is to two worlds 2 exe and replace it made the game work for me when I had problems with shattered embrace DLC
Not a problem, ok if you got the game steam [depending on the version you bought (Base Game/Base Game + DLC)] any DLC that you own for the game should install automatically (unless they are disabled. they will always be enabled by default.). You might have DLC's you didn't know you have and to cheack is very easy:
Just go to your Two Worlds 2 Library page(were you would normaly launch the game from) and look for the tab 'DLC' (should be right underneath the Green 'Play' button). this will take you to the DLC store page for the game. Here you will see list of DLC's you can buy, and if you already own the DLC it will be indicated with a blue "IN LIBRARY" sign.

And if you want to manage the DLC's ( if you want to enable or disable them), go to your Two Worlds 2 Library page(were you would normaly launch the game from). Then look to the right side of the page were you see your friends who own and play the game, scroll down past 'additional content' and past 'achievements', look for the 'DLC' tab(not the one close to play button). There should be 2 options, View DLC's in store and Manage My DLC's. under manage you can control the DLC's
I found the only DLC giving me issue was the SE(shattered embrace) DLC, but I dont know what to do if you dont own it....

But copy the steam_api file, then it wont be necessary to disable any DLC

a) play two worlds II HD
b) two worlds II (DirectX 9)
c) two worlds II 3D
a) selected, game starts, the library screen shows that the game is being synchronized, then it shows that the game was last played today and the
game button is now green again.
same with b) and c).

I then right-clicked in the library, "Administration", "Browse local files". Then double-clicked on the EXE files "TwoWorlds2" or "TwoWorlds2_DX10" in the Windows window that opened.
Then this error message appeared (on both EXE files):
The code cannot be executed because PhysKLoader.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may solve the problem.

Reinstalling didn't help

In that same Two Worlds 2 directory, go to -> Install -> Physx, then use the "PhysX_10.01.29_9.10.0129_SystemSoftware" exe to install what it needs.

This only fixed the game for me WITHOUT the shattered embrace DLC.. I still cant get that to start up when installed

ok and I presume you have all the DLC's aswell?? if you do, try Disabling the SE(shattered embrace) DLC and then try running the HD version, through steam (don't run directly from Local files). just launch it through steam as you normaly would( there could be small update because of the SE DLC that you disabled)

If the game opens with SE disabled, then you have the exact problem I had..... only disabling SE DLC worked for me and I could play the game, but I wanted the SE DLC's content in my game, and if you enable it again, the issue comes back.... It took me a while to get a solution where I could have the content in my game, and also still be able to get achievements.... there is 'Third-Party' patches that can solve it easaly but then they disable steam achievement...

So the way I fixed my game is very simple, but you need a 'other' (working) steam game( the older the game, the better, but any game should work). note that this game should launch with no issue on steam.

I'll try to explain what I did, maybe it will work for you aswell:
Step 1 ; Have a fresh install of the game 'Two Worlds 2'(with all its DLC's enabled) ready and 'Browse Local Files', then leave as is for now.
Step 2 ; Now go to the 'Other' game of your choice (the working one I mentioned above) and 'Browse Local Files' then search for the 'steam_api' (make sure you DON'T take the 'steam_appid') and copy ONLY the 'steam_api'.
Step 3 ; Now go back to your Two Worlds 2 Local Files and 'Paste' the 'steam_api' file you just copied and 'Replace' the existing file.
Step 4 ; And you should be good to play now, without any disabled content or achievements.

you should try the Steam_api solution, it woked for me
I had this problem, game won't start.
Here's how I fixed the problem just minutes ago:
1. Replace Steam_api with a different Steam_api from a game that I just played.
2. Add Steam_api64 from a different game that I just played.
3. Go to the install directory of Two Worlds II and in the physx directory, launch the physx installer.

I can launch the HD game without issue and all DLCs enabled.

Hallo again,

but what means it? I found the steam_api.dll, but what should I do with this file?
Hello,
I have now ordered a new notebook (Lenovo Ideapad 3 Gaming). When it arrives and I have installed Steam on it, I will deal with the problem again. There is no point in getting it to work on this notebook and then finding out that there are other problems on the new one.
Many thanks to all the helpers, it is really great to see how helpful this is!

You copy the Steam_api from the game folder (NOT two worlds two) and paste into the Two Worlds Two folder and choose to overwrite the file when asked.
I know some of this has already been mentioned, but this is what i did.

Download physx legacy drivers if you havent its a hard requirement to my knowledge.
The older version should be in the directorys INSTALL file, though the legacy version is better. Same with dx9 ,though again dx10 is better for hd version. If that doesnt work try installing the 4gb patch and/or large address aware onto the exe you use (i did both on both exe just to be sure) Not sure if this game needs 4gb or laa but any older game i use the 4gb patch and it helps everytime.

4gb patch-

LAA-

Physx Legacy-

directx end user runtime (for older games)-

Hope this helps.

p.s i only have the whatever pirate dlc as i heard the following two are rancid ass
Hi guys,
I can now play with the new notebook without any problems.
Thanks for your support!
