[SOLVED] Game not starting or crashing at startup (PhysX Legacy required)

It's an issue with Steam installer.

In brief...(definitive solution that will stay in your registry forever):

1. install PhysX Legacy Drivers (also if you have AMD) from http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.13.0604-legacy-driver.html

2. for x64 systems open Regedit.exe* and go to

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\AGEIA Technologies"

and add a DWORD value named

"PhysX Version" = "8b526c" (hexadecimal)

3. Quit and restart Steam

Once you've installed the Legacy driver 9.13.0604 and fixed that stupid registry key, the game wil start like a charm!

N.B.:
Instead of step 2, you can directly enter from an admin command prompt (one single line):

reg ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\AGEIA Technologies" /v "PhysX Version" /t REG_DWORD /d "0x8b526c" /f

See what's inside the Steam 7520_install.vdf file:

...this means, in human readable form: look for "PhysX Version" value in the registry at
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AGEIA Technologies". Then if present and has a minimum value of "9100129" is ok: skip and load the game.

If NOT present or value minor than "9100129" (in hex format: 8ADB61), then run the "process 1" (which will forcibly install old PhysX package 10.01.x.x.x overwriting with that also your current PhysX Legacy installation, EVERYTIME! Beware!!
...But there's also another problem: the key on x64 systems becomes: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\AGEIA Technologies"
... that's why it fails...


P.S.
Probably, as an alternative, you can simply delete 7520_install.vdf and install PhysX Legacy, but it wouldn't be fun...

Same Problem.
I´ve only reinstall: [PhysX_10.01.29_9.10.0129_SystemSoftware] it was in this Folder: \Steam\steamapps\common\Two Worlds II\install\PhysX then reboot... it works.

Which is the old version I've explained above...
I advise you to follow my steps and install latest PhysX Legacy aside latest PhysX instead or you'll have issues with other games... With latest PhysX Legacy any game will work fine, including 2Worlds2. It's just the Steam installer to be buggy forcing old 10.01.29 reiterated installation (overwriting newer Legacy) because of a missing key...

Another solution could be editing the .vdf and modify "PhysX Version" -> "PhysX (Legacy) Version" but as for any other solution the problem will reappear if one day you'll decide to reinstall the game from scratch. Above solution is definitive for all next out-of-the-box installations of this game.

Although I still cannot run the game...but at least I can see the start aminaton before it crashing, normally, it ll crash when the screen still black
the system of my laptop is win7, AMD, 64bit, is this the reason of the crashing? May be I ll try it after I buy a new computer in NVIDIA...

Fix registry as I've written. Install PhysX Legacy in this order. Can't fail.

Be sure you modified the correct key for your system (x86 or x64), and re-read msg #1.
You may also try installing first latest PhysX legacy, then modify the reg key, start the game.

Sorry but this has nothing to do with this thread then (to fix PhysXLegacy requirements and make the game start). You must have other HW/drivers/software/ generic config problems with your PC. I suggest to open a specific topic saying the game crashes at a certain point, listing your HW/SW config including controllers, and see if is reporoducible for others and can help you.
