The current state of FNaF SB RTX Performance (June 15th)
The previous post can be found here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/747660/discussions/0/3182361055548363236/

We're about half way there now honestly
Below is further discussion renewed by the newest patch release of FNaF Security Breach. In the previous post I had gone into a full breakdown of the nature of raytracing performance, gathering knowledge of publicly voiced technologies that were implemented (ray traced ambient occlusion), and any issues that could be found during play. These tests, as well as the tests from previous, were all performed on an RTX 3080 machine with Ryzen 7 5800X hardware off an SSD. Please note that your hardware will perform differently.

TL;DR I have found the performance to have had a major boost in this update, though currently it is still not perfect and some may consider it still unplayable. For those will the tip-top of the chain hardware you may not have trouble running the game at 30fps on absolute maximum settings, provided you enable DLSS Performance. However, I have found a middle ground that does further examplify how currently the maximum settings still have too many rays being casted.

Current performance, and good settings for high end
As a user of fairly high end hardware it is difficult for me to recommend settings to players who do not own high end hardware. Because of this the below settings I found optimal do not represent all machines. However, it is possible to get 60 fps, whilst on Raytrace Medium, DLSS Quality. This is a significant increase over the previous results, which had trouble getting anywhere close to this margin on Raytrace Low.

This was most likely due to a brand new optimization that has been discovered, where the camera will not bounce rays off of surfaces that have a specific overhead on reflectiveness at all (say, looking at a carpet. versus looking at reflective Freddy.) This does mean that it is performing ray culling, where the ray will immediately die if it does not find a certain threshold of reflectiveness. However, that will not deter reflective surfaces from bouncing too many rays, which is an issue seen in turning Raytrace on the highest setting.

Because of an increase in the amount of shaders being executed to perform raytracing, it is fairly reasonable to consider different optimizations during development in order to ensure implementation goes smoothly. I can confirm that the black banding on PBR materials issue that was once present has now disappeared. However, reflection maps still do not get unloaded when RTX is on, causing objects such as mirrors to display both a baked map, and a dynamically lit map of reflections on their surfaces.

Currently I find myself playing at 55 fps when looking at reflective surfaces, versus 80 fps when in a not-so-reflective room, with settings up to Ultra on everything except DLSS and Raytrace, which are set to Medium and Quality. However please note that all current reflections have calculation speckling, as if the game is having trouble finding a stop threshold for light calculation (maybe adding one might help these scenarios?)

Surprisingly, I get 70 to 110 fps when Raytrace Low in reflective situations even with DLSS off. I was able to go even higher with it on. Therefore we are indeed at a point now where most players might be able to play with Raytrace at least on low with DLSS Performance if you don't mind points of noticeable frame drops, but most might find these frame drops annoying. Though High still needs major improvement.

However, it seems that moving the mouse in normal/quick speed will cause stutter. this is inline with previous behaviour.

Motion with DLSS
Currently motion with DLSS still occurs due to using an older implementation of DLSS. as I had recommended to Steel Wool before, upgrading to DLSS 2.2 should help alleviate this issue.

That's it for now. Raytrace Low is now viable for more players than before, and Raytrace Medium is suitable for the high end. No word yet as to the fix for camera movement related stutter. Loading areas now stop the music to make it clear the game is loading now as well, so I am sure the stutters I was experiencing were framedrop related.

what ray tracing settings would you recommend on a pc with an intel i7 10700F RTX 3050 and 64GB ram?

personally I do not believe an RTX 3050 (which is about equivalent to RTX 2060) would be viable to use raytracing at this time, but I assume Low with Performance DLSS could be able to get at least somewhere if you have all the other settings on Medium or so. Please note there still will be noticeable stuttering, but not as awful as it was last patch, and remains consistent with mouse movement.

What about the damn resolution bug? aka even if you set the highest. IT still is not 4k.
And everytime I alt tab .. you get the weird desktop resize bug over and over and over.

Strange, I had no such bug. The only problem I ever had with alt tab was the game straight up closing itself if you were on the pause menu at the time.

also please note most people still don't use RTX quite specifically because of the stutter during mouse movement. so it's more of a taste thing at the moment. I've heard reports such issues do not exist on PS5 now.

Thanks for the info. This is exactly what I was wondering. I remember the game running shockingly bad when it launched. I was amazed my new RTX 3080 wasn't handling it better. So I refunded. I'll probably get it when it goes on sale.

currently it still has the same stutter as on launch but the fps is better overall than it used to be assuming Medium and not High. I also use RTX 3080

NEW NOTES:

Apparently optimization for the PS5 version's raytracing has been "finished". I cannot confirm this myself but if somebody could for me that would be wonderful.

I have yet to test if the stuttering occurs if you are using a controller on PC instead of a mouse and keyboard.
