First game isnt scary, at all. You're stuck in one position checking cameras and thasts it.
And you dont decide what is lore.
I would also like to add that it was apparent that this game at one point did have potential during its earlier stages of development, ..however this was evidently scrapped by Steel Wool due to them either running out of time, budget, or some other major resource. Likely due to the contract they had in place with Sony, however this is unlikely to ever be directly confirmed, due to those involved with its development signing NDA agreements
What we ended up with was a fundamentally flawed game, which serves to conceal its problems with more problems. (For example - The braindead animatronic AI which is compensated for by placing Staff Bots literally everywhere, in addition to the teleporting animatronics, plus the game makes zero attempt to hide this from the player, which turns detracts from the immersion, something which is all-too crucial in a "horror" game.)
Lastly, if that is your definition of "hate", then frankly I don't think this game receives enough of it to be brutally honest! It is evident that modern FNAF fans have low standards, and I genuinely believe that there are not enough people around left to challenge the fanbase on this. So with mainstream interest generally lost, and the only people left playing this game are primarily children (likely in the 8 - 13 year range) the occasional YouTuber/streamer, which in turn are the main thing still carrying this franchise by endorsing this to said children, ..and then you have the diehard FNAF fans, who often try claiming that this game is some type of underrated masterpiece, because there is barely anyone left around to challenge them on that. It is very apparent that the majority of the FNAF community is an echo chamber, which is obviously anything but healthy with such a severe lack of discourse.
In turn by giving this game a pass, not holding the developers/publishers accountable for pushing out rushed unfinished releases only serves to contribute to the decline of the gaming industry.
I could continue writing an entire essay tearing into this, however I've already been typing this post for long enough. I already understand full well that I am not going to change an entire fanbase's consensus, ..however if I can at least make a dent and influence a few people here and there, then that is all that matters.
ADDENDUM - If you are reading this and a have taken some form of personal slight to said criticism and are thinking of responding with a disparaging comment, then save yourself the time and energy. I've already heard it all before.
I do agree, the game was practically a release candidate build at launch, perhaps even release prototype or something, but it did get a ferry-load of bug fixes, some re-optimizations, and even a free DLC/Expansion Pass whose gameplay was a 1up from the base game. Sadly, the stench of the initial release of this game will remain and probably will never go away, so even though I enjoyed playing this game (I bought it after a few major bug fixes were posted), I know that it missed the mark and may never truly regain height. Steel Wool did their best; maybe not enough but they tried anyway. All they could do is learn from this experience and improve themselves in the future.
The game uses Security Bots as a cheap and incredibly annoying way to increase difficulty, it has plenty of issues some literally softlocking the player (Per example, in the Shattered Chica part, I got the third generator, went to save my game because I didn't know the door had opened, and then died. Because of this, the door went right back into being closed and I had to install cheats to no-clip and go through the wall. OR, right now, in which at 5:50 AM when you have to hide from moon, the game doesn't let me get inside of recharge stations for god knows what reason.)
The game is awesome to look at, from an art and world perspective, its a gem... But they didn't think of the gameplay really much.
And that really hurts the game.
