Can't actually pick up robot head

In Roxy Raceway, when I pick up the broken robot head, it does not actually get added into my inventory even though the button prompts and animations play out.
If I try to later go on with the Fazcade mission, when at the end I have to drop in the robot head to repair it, the game says that I am missing the required item.
There is seemingly no way to get that head and progress in the game; I'm stuck. I have tried reloading from the last autosave from 5 AM but the result seems to be always the same.

Did you by chance have to voice volume turned all the way down?

I have a similar glitch it won't let me deposit the robot head in the deposit thing. Because it tells me to reset the last breaker at the end of the maintence hall but I reseted all of them

Yes, why? Is it related to the glitch?

yes, for some reason whenever you turn voices all the way down it messes with a few things in the game. I am pretty sure the head is the worst that can happen with it turned down.
