Scoundrel Cards
I played this quite a bit when it first came out, and made it to level 20 as a ranger.

Starting over and playing as some of the new classes, and I'm totally lost here. Has anyone figured out how to actually use the scoundrel cards? I can sometimes manage to put one on my belt (super unreliable) and I can make it burn.. but none of them seem to do anything.

The journal just says it makes my next shot apply the effect, but it doesn't. The enemies never get any debuffs (like my old ranger poison or snare). I have to be missing something here, but I can't imagine what. I've tried pressing every button on the controller, throwing the card at an enemy, shooting the card, putting the card in the gun like a musketeer.. nothing works.

So I guess I kinda figured it out. It doesn't seem to work quite right though. Just letting go of the card makes it float up above you, then shooting applies the debuff.. sometimes.

It seems to work on dummies almost every time, but against actual monsters the debuffs only seem to apply occasionally. I can shoot someone with the ice one to slow them, deal damage (so I know I hit), and then not have the debuff actually apply.

Hi, sorry to hear that. It might be a new bug that popped up, we'll investigate.

I saw a vid on youtube the other day and it explained it all pretty well.
It was on the beta, but he managed to point out what all the cards do. Might wanna look up that vid

Okay, I think I finally get it. If you release a card, then the next shot triggers the effect. If you "burn" a card, then it reinforces the effect you already have (provided you have one active that you haven't used yet). Burning a card if you don't have an effect active does nothing, though you can burn a card then draw and release to reinforce that second card.

Guess the norm will be grabbing a card, releasing it, then waiting to grab another and see if it's crap - if so, reinforce whatever effect you got before (provided it's a good one for dps or whatever situation you're in).

Have you also tried shooting with a curve for nice bonus dmg?
Takes some practice tho
