Temtem

Can you seriously not get crystal skates back once you loose them at the moment?
Just hit the end point and reading you don't get them back, was super loving this game up till this point as I can't get back in the volcano and whatnot to farm TemTem I wanted to work on breeding

He's not talking about the long path but the small part before you enter the volcano

But he's saying he can't get back, you can, just not over that path.

i saw someone use the skaters on the last island.... so i don't now why

Remember this is Early Access, everyone...by the time we get the next big content patch (next island), this is not likely to be an issue anymore. I agree with Silent, I believe we will have our Skates at that time, continuing along the main quest of the story.

I don't disagree that it's an issue, but right now it's kind of a lose/lose situation. As it stands, people complaining because they didn't know they'd lose access to certain areas. Completely understandable, but out of our hands. Give players temporary access to them now, and they'll complain when they inevitably have them taken away again when it comes time to progress the story.

Losing the Skates will be temporary in the long run, and someday this will all be past us. I consider it a growing pain as the game progresses through development, but in time it will all be over.

This is on the forums so yes atm you cannot get your skates back

Edit: Iv found a solution. Coop with a friend who still has their skates and YOU yourself can skate with me! Try it out everyone. They can also bring you into the area you want to get to when partied up

Until they put more story/content in, we can't get the skates back (yet).

In the meantime, if you need to get to those areas, just team up with another player who still has their skates.

I read on another board that if your coop partner has the skates, you can skate yourself while coop is active. Haven't confirmed this myself though.

Nowhere near good enough, but whatever.

Yeah, huge over sight. I know, maybe the dojo master(which would be broken with skates) gives them back after you win.... such a big brain idea devs. should hire me

Almost a year later and this is still a problem. I get why they take the skates from us considering the Quetzal dojo, but it would be much easier for everyone if there was an NPC at the entrance who confiscates the skates temporarily so that we can go through the dojo as intended.

Early access or not, this is as bad a design choice as the Tucma crash and the jailbreak. And we even recover the surfboard *after* the dojo match, so I don't get why we can't get the skates back in a similar fashion.

Not getting everything you want when you want it is not a bad design decision. You don't have to like everything.

The game is in early access so the time you spend without skates is longer than it would be for a fresh player due to the time it takes for new content to be developed. This is not the experience a new player will have with a finished game, thus also isn't a valid complaint.

That's not a good way to deflect criticism, pal. It's impossible to please everyone but at the same time, that doesn't mean people should refrain from voicing their criticism.

And yeah, those are bad design choices. Temtem isn't perfect and some of the things that make it questionable won't change, such as the skates only being given back to us at the end of the game. You can disagree as much as you want, but plenty of us (and this is even more true for the skates as it is for the clothing situation) agree that it doesn't make much sense to give us a cool traversal tool only to take it away for another 20-30h, if not more.

Not saying you should refrain from voicing your criticism. But if you get to say something is bad design because you don't like it, I also get to say you're whining because the thing you dislike is a minor temporary nuisance serving a mechanical purpose and your criticism isn't fair.
