How To Fight Bosses
So as the title says, how does one do it? I am level 26 and I get utterly demolished by every mutant I fight unless they can't run.

Tried to fight burning twins, it constantly runs and your character runs out of stamina to run so fast that it just insta kills you. Every hit puts you on deaths door and regular zombies will not stop spawning. They just don't seem to be worth the effort and ammo to fight.

mostly mobility.
jog/sprint speed are very important.
however, you can be a tad tricky
you'll most likely be fast enough to do it before you're fast enough to just sprint 'mindlessly'.
try jogging from them and sprinting just when they start a melee swing, they'll slow down a little when they start to melee. also might sprint if they stop for whatever reason to buy some room for shooting

if the adds are troubling you, drop them to crawlers by shooting legs, as you said they'll keep spawning. but only so many can exist at once, so if you make them crawl they mostly stop being an issue.

edit: some are simply easier to deal with without great stats too.
it's been awhile since i started a fresh toon, but mothers, fingers, hysteric, and the gas one are all pretty easy IMO
twins i recall having a hard time with when i first started playing, but became utterly trivial once i got a little faster and a little better at when to use stamina

run and shot.
get use to it. the more u pay the more u know when the boss will stop after sprinting.
Same as the rest of the game if you ask Solo way.

Mobility skills.

Max - Incoming damage. (Armors are decent but may require carrying more than one)

High health pool, Anti stun stats. Debuff resist/Immunities. Medic skill is insurance and economy if soloer keeps on fighting one quest, boss , purple zone to other.

High aim speed, enough relaod speed, walk speed.

Comboing cheap ammo spam on zombies esp on legs to cripple and form a barrier and harder hitting ammo on boss head. Circling around... (Headshotting boss directly and fast search speed, anti stun is another. Doesnt allways work)

Good Search, Sneak skills and Inventory space also helps.

Team Play:

For team play it is very easy. Everyone focus fire at same target and then the other instead of picking seperate targets. Some players may shoot zombies at leg to cripple at the start before head shotting the bosses with focus fire. Melee and Chainsaw payers at team takes Optic and Spined zombies easier when rest of the team leg and head shot focus fire at same targets.

Close combat vs Ranged:

Melee for silence and pure joy and satisfaction , pistol for general use, hard and faster ammo spam with Heavier calibre firearms or Chainsaw for bosses or finishing of purple zones faster.

Kick may be hardest to justify since without gear it's base bonuses are even worse than Melee skill bonus.

(We all hope Adminpwn upgrades Melee and Kick and avoid Melee moving around by itself with each attack. Adding cleave, chop limbs, martial arts and wrestling like top fun close combat action. Firearms are OP but Boring)

Skill pick can change according to Gear set bouses; solo or team , member or free to play, economic or careless. Having fun satisfaction through close combat or ranged combat , stealth or mixing all.

I'll start by saying you make good points.
but I have to disagree with this part.
early game i find the movement from melee very helpful, i use the right click attack and spin a 180 to hit target and retreat with the motion.
late game spamming attacks moves me through crowds at just the right pace
I wish there was as many as half a dozen special attacks with cooldown for Melee combat, working with the same principles with Kick, Sprint and Dodge specialties and countdown timers.

Different type ofMele weapon having different special attacks according to their shape and reach and speed would also be amazing.

Add Brawling, Wrestling Special attacks renaming Kick and widening the close combat concept.

Imagine different type of Npcs also having further differnt special moves during combat squence.

There is great potential for fun.

Ranged combat is too easy at DF and amount of ammunition and food is too much. Unrealistically Ranged weapon mechanism doesnt need any maintenance. I wish Adminpwn thought of rebalancing the game in to a more survival based gaming experience, keeping the action still on top with said changes above.

The game concept and story and mutated zombies from the old original Deadfrontier carries the game still. Admin is good at creating and keeping the atmosphere. Deadfrontier 2 deserves more attention and deeper gameplay development.
