Very free to play friendly.
I pay for convenience and cosmetics.
Cosmetics have no stats.
For faster EXP and More Quanity, we got Gold Memebership
After all still P2W, Pay sth to Win sth. But not that's kind of P2W like EA or Survarium. The mean is There aren't any GOLD ITEM PAY BY MONEY to have 1000% Stats.
I do recommend you support the game, though. The developer is active on the game with several updates per month, if not per week. But I don't think you will be spending $100 per month like "real" p2w games. Nothing wrong with getting Gold Membership here and there to show support
I haven't gone into much my self, long ago I did pay to upgrade for more character slots and didn't notice till I got back in game I had extra inventory plus trade slots.
There are also the gold memberships, haven't messed with that tho seems like a lot of those perks might be considered pay to win, specially since I think he updated and or boosted them?
Weapons and stuff can't be pay to win I think, plus unlike DF1 there is no ghost ammo or special items where you can get unlimited ammo from credits or something like that.
If you spend something like $10 then selling the credits will allow you to buy a *lot* of valuable items.
It's not like other P2W MMO's where you have to spend $100s or $1000s to buy valuable items.
The only thing money can bring you is a shorter early game experience. As the rest of the game may be attained without it. Spending can speed up that early game and jump you right into standard gameplay with everyone competing, or you can take your time and develop your skills more slowly and approach the competition with more experience instead of more money.
That choice is up to each individual based on their needs. A lot of folks with less time will find the benefit of a speedy level up. Others looking to escape for longer will benefit from not spending or not using what they have spent until they are already up to speed.
So while the p2w factor does exist, it is not a paywall right now, but more like a difficulty setting.
I have never been forced to pay, I have paid for the game, and it's possible I do the same thing when I will be enough strong to be in a team.
You buy them from the in-game market with in-game money from other players that sell their credits.
Can you use real life money (dollars, euros etc) to buy power items ?
The answer to this would be a "yes" for this game, because you buy credits with dollars & then sell these credits for the in-game currency & then use the in-game currency to buy very powerful weapon & other items.
The game experience actually changes quite a lot if you sell even 100 credits.
Without selling these credits, you will be faced with a perpetual shortage of food, medical & ammo items. Your experience will mirror that of a real-life person who is living paycheck to paycheck & you will constantly have to go out & spend time foraging for these items, instead of increasing your character's XP.
On the other hand, if you sell even 100 credit for 800k in-game currency, then suddenly your world is transformed. You enter the world of the 'comfortable middle & upper class'. You can now buy as much food, medicine & ammo as you need and concentrate your energies only on maximising your character's experience gain. This is similar to how the wealth of the middle & upper class allows them the freedom to spend their energy on increasing their skills instead of a constant struggle for survival.
Reaching a higer level will go faster if you subscribe.
But it seems that almost ever weekend there is a bonus to exp or some other stat, that is slightly less then if you subscribe, but still significant.
As a free to play game, I think they have found a fairly good balance.
I would have preferred that they did not have exp bonuses in the paid content. It would have been somewhat better if they did it like Path of Exile, which have a very good free to play system. There only intventory and cosmetic are paid content.
All in all this is one of the best free to play games considering the problem with "Pay to Win".
The tripple A games idustry has been trying to promote their games with the idea that you can pay some money if you do not have the time. Which is an obvious copreate lie to get more money out of you :)
Dead frontier 2 on the other hand actually does what the tripple A Industy say they are doing.
You won't win by paying.
And you will not be at the top of any leaderboards just becasue you invested money.
But it will make will make some of the game somewhat easier.
But you won't get better armour or attack by paying.
The paid content is mostly ease of life. More inventory space, increased exp and some better loot.
I have not yet reach end game content, so I can not say whether or not it changes there, but as of now I don't really see how it would.
