Making melee build possible?
So, I understand there are perks specially for melee like brute strength, kickboxing and dodge. However, I still feel its really underwhelming that its better to just focus on a weapon build than to spend any points at all for those melee perks.
Melee does so little damage that bossing is made almost impossible, specially for tendrill and juggernaut, I feel it will be more fun if melee could be reworked a little to make the build possible.
For example:
1. I know we can stagger the boss every few sec, but its so unreliable maybe add a % based
1 - 1.5 sec stun with bonus damage? (maybe add the stun as part of 'brute strength')

2. Make 'dodge' more viable, maybe something like the dodge in Dauntless or Monster hunter with a stamina meter or a 3-4 sec cooldown

3. Maybe add more elements to the different melee weapons, like sharp weapons can cut off limbs or legs easier, while blunt weapon can do more knockback or stun.

4. Add a block option with melee with cooldown or stamina meter
- receive no damage, but get staggered or stunned
or
- receive reduced damage (30% or 50%)

Well this are just my suggestions, but I really wish melee build could be more effective given their lower damage and higher risk situation.

- They're zombies not Piñata
- What's the point of gun then
- Next, people want Bow, Crossbow, Spear, Shield, Throwing Spear, Welcome to Medieval Zombie Survival Horror
- The Boss isn't hard at all, just avoid Titan and Tendrill
- You probably want to check the game named "Dark Souls"

First off, the developer's goal for the game is to make it as close to an actual zombie apocalypse, that is why the developer gave weapons that we can actually find and buy easily compared to weapons like mini-guns and grenade launchers like in df1.
If realism is the goal of the developer, then melee would be used most of the time in an actual zombie apocalypse, because bullets are hard to come by and we can't just buy them anytime we want.
and just because guns and ammo are so abundant, doesn't mean we have to go full gun build, its not a fully shooter game, its a survival game.
And since we are already given perks for a melee build, its not too much to ask to rework it a little to make melee builds possible.
Lastly, its a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game people want to enjoy it and expand on different builds and stuff, you don't have to shoot people's opinion down and tell them to play "Dark Souls"

Yea what's next? A game that constantly improves over time? Heresy I say!

Yo, that crossbow though. Make it silent and deal suprise damage if unseen. I'll take it.

Crossbows and bows are somewhat easy to get in any sport goods store. Also sooner or later people will have to revert to those types of things since knowledge to make bullets will be a hard thing to come by.

If you can kill most of the zombies without endangering yourself or others, silence and staying unseen would probably be one of the better strategies for survival if it were real life, assuming noise and/or being seen makes them enough of a threat for it not be wise to risk it enough of the time. And of course you can thin their numbers with silence until one of them spots one of you, then you might have to pull out a gun, but at least now you have to waste less bullets, and will be more likely to win without casualties or taking much/any damage.

It's those pesky mutated zombies and more advanced infected that make that tricky since melee becomes more difficult to use effectively in that situation. I'm sure chainsaws will help make it more doable, but will bring aggro with it. We'll probably have something like faster more powerful weapons (than we have now), and slow but very damaging with high knockback weapons for melee users. Each of those would be useful to have for different enemies in a group. Big knockback weapons for larger enemies, quick attacking weapons for large numbers of smaller enemies.

Silent weapons will have their place but I doubt it will ever be easy to take on end-game content with only melee. But those who want to challenge themselves and prove it's possible to melee everything, I'm sure we'll see that with most if not every new challenge as this game's content develops.

Ranged silent weapons would be great if they were not made overpowered.

1. Bosses should be a bit more staggered by melee depending on the knockback you have and should be increased on bosses if you have Brute Strength but the 1.5 second stun with Brute Strength is op af so yes to the knockback but no to the stun

2.Refer to the video posted

3.I agree with this. Infact the community would welcome swords and to a lesser extent knives with... open looting arms admin is probably gonna add chainsaws wayyyyy down the line and they would probably use fuel

4. I already made a thread about that..long before this one

Melee is pretty effective if you know how to use it/have the skills and build around it/and it saves you the most money

However it could use some slight adjustment. So yeah the community needs to ask a bit more

People might just stack surprise damage and rekt bosses lol sounds op
im not sure it should have surprise damage

But it does sound like melee but ranged. also sounds complicated right now atm
would you be able to loot back the bolts? would you have to buy new bolts?
questions questions

Both of you can kiss your chances of crossbows goodbye- for now at least until DF2 releases

besides if admin were to add crossbows that would mean new ammo type
Stellifera Oct 13, 2018 @ 12:17am
They can add a skill parry which will grant the ability to block incoming or possibly parry for even reduced damage by 10% or more depending on tier and if parry is a success. Like Fallout 4's system. I don't know just suggesting.

LOL @ the comment that this is supposed to be a realistic survival game . Just because he put in a water and hunger bar doesnt make it survival and as for being realistic well it just isn't , sure people would have guns still but they best way to kill a zed will always be silent with a melee or crossbow/bow .
Also note the radio in game at some point it will say in the background "2016 the army was sent out" or something like that suggesting that this happened around 2016 then look at the cars that are all generic and look at the computer on the desks there All from 1990's with there big chunky screens ...so yeah not realistic .
Right now this game has no point there is no story or goal not even getting to max level is a goal since once your level 20 there is NOTHING to do anymore since you do not even need exp and the loot is so bad there is no point in trying to get any so what you supposed to do once you no longer need exp?

I am sure people will say that its an early access game etc etc but since a game should at least have some sort of goal in mind this has none other that do the daily missions .
Why is are toon there?
Why do we keep helping these people that are gloomy as fck?
Why does a door not open if i shoot the lock?
Is my toons life just about being an errond boy ?
Sharp object into a dead bodies head will always kill it yet theses you have to slap sometimes 4 or 5 times ...realisticly slap a zed in the head with axe and there not getting back up.

I think the developer himself said that he wanted to make the game realistic.

There.Is.Lore. the DF community started with the wikia admin helped and the community added to that. same as DF2.

I highly encourage you to read the blog
https://blog.creakycorpse.com/

also do you reuse words? is there anything in there at all?

making DF2 open world would kill it for the people with potatoes/lower end pc it would take at least 1-2 years plus and the game would have to be pulled to make it happen and admin stated he may not like the end result

so the loading screens stay
go play fallout?

why do you ask so many questions
its a game

same thing with life you can ask all the questions
you'll get the answers when you die

why do you do missions you dont like if you dont wanna do it?

dont you have friends to play with? or just ask anybody else to team up with you.

i know theres not alot to do besides looting, killing bosses, and quests

but dont grind ur damn self to death

find what is fun in the game and DO THAT

i dunno how people loot the apartments and or big buildings without going sane so i do small buildings and hunt bosses

you complain about the game being too realistic? but lemme ask you what do you find fun about DF2 at all? lemme ask ya that im curious

admin did say there would be new areas liek a barn/forest areas like a bigggg place but with lots of small buildings to explore

we havent heard from admin in a few days but im sure he's working on something

people say pvp others say an outpost attack update

you should take a break if this game upsets you/or if you play this game too much that you burnout

games are for fun but if it aint fun anymore take a breath and do something else

people have different opinions on what they'd like more in a game and not

relax

yeah he;s trying to avoid the p2w power fantasy which was DF1. DF2 is a new leaf.
