I'm currently rolling a character with looting, fast learner and sneak. Gonna get a couple melee perks next sneaking is sometimes a 1 shot kill

for what its worth if you look at the stats, sneak attacking with the started 2x4 does 10 damage while its regular attacks do 2. surprise attacks are awesome if you can land them

Like the DF1 melee is better than weapons for loot, so I got, quick reflexes, loot, melee expert, sneak and pistol expert for getting out of troubles

Looter and Survivor is a no brainer, if you can upgrade them further, you should always do it, Looter then Survivor. I would advise to unlock all the abilities (sneak, kick, dodge, sprint), all of those can come in handy, even on tier 1, experiment with them. Check as many abilities as you can, because if you play long enough, you will want to prestige which resets progress, but increases your total skill points. For example, no presitage: mix, prestige 1: pistol based build, prestige 2: melee based, etc. this is the best way to find the optimal skill build before you hit max prestige.

If you have to choose between this two I would say survivor. That way you can stand more longer without eat or drink

hmm i actually didnt see myself investing into survivor this far (level 8). food and water arent very problematic and you only have to actually worry when theyre at 0, so the only times i eat are to clear inventory space to loot more or one time when i actually got to 0 to see how it works out.

Writing this just as much for myself as everyone else.

Perks I see as a total waste:

Assasin - Useless. Why waste skills on a PvP skill? PvP isn't even present except in private.
Fast Learner - Negligible bonus unless you spend four points in it...and then it's self-defeating.
Immune System - Useless, infection and radiation are a total non-issue.
Thick Skin - Bleeding is also easily solved.
Survivor - Managing food and hunger isn't difficult at all. My inventory usually has too many.
Trucker - Pointless. Fuel is common, don't need car space.
Lockpicking - Doesn't do ♥♥♥♥ without heavy investment, and you can just find keys.
Reloading - Shouldn't be moving while shooting to begin with. Ammo capacity / reload speeds aren't a problem with endgame guns.

Questionable Perks:

Looting - All it does is seem to increase the quality of hard to find items instead of increasing your chances to find those items themselves. But the market is flooded with high quality items anyways and they don't really seem to do much over standard items.
Brute Strength - Is knockback even really an issue?
Jogging - Nice to have but mostly just covenience.
Quick Reflexes - Knockback, kicking, or just walking away are usually enough?

Mandatory Perks:

Sprinter (Rank 1 only) - For evading combat.
Medic - Consume far less health items, saving us money and inventory.
Kickboxing (Rank 1 only) - To interrupt sprinters.
Melee Expert - Melee is pretty terrible on it's own. Could use the buff.

Where you should dump your remaining skills after the above:

Head Hunter - Flat damage increase against all enemy types with all weapon types (except melee).
Toughness - Can't go wrong with more health.
Mule.
Quick Shot - Useful if paired with marksman, otherwise meh.
Marksman - Useful if paired with Quick Shot, otherwise meh.
The remaining expert and hunter perks. But they're very niche so save for last.

dont forget mule. while each level doesnt pose a huge impact, they stack up and you can never have too much inventory space

1-2 points in mule helps as well as medic 2

Sprinter and kick 1 is a must albeit I might be planning to max kick so I can replace melee and just carry 2 guns

Max your preferred expert skill.

The only thing I wonder whether hunter also increases headshot damage or only body damage if it improves damage across the board then it will be the best damage dealer skill against bosses

1 type of gun damage (picked shotgun because 1 shotgun blast can massively down a zombie and finish them off with a melee to the head)

looter 2 > survivor 2 because if you upgrade looting you'll find better quality items so better foods and drinks and meds too.

Nope, Looter only increases your chance to find quality items.

Now you can scrap items, the higher quality the more $ you can get and if the stats are good you can try to sell the items. I think Looter isn't a bad perk if you want to earn more $, then again consumables such as ammo & medicine sell for way more at least early on.

Get mule best investment ever
Trust me on this , Shotgun expert level 2 , headhunter level 2 , quick shot or maskman level 2 , you can one shot almost everykind of low level zombie with one shot . Also find glove with more than 10 % headshot damage too , body damage is useless in this game , headshot is king . With the price of shotgun ammo now and the damage of it , its worth every penny

Quick reflexes allow you to animation cancel and it also gives you i-frames. I would say that if you want to go melee, you pretty much need this as a must.
