No but it make less sense if you don’t. Plus the Cub escape series is free. Play that in the order of Seasons the Lake,Harvey’s box, Arles, Case 23, The Mill. Then play Rusty Lake Hotel. Include Cube escape Birthday and Threater then Play Rusty Lake Roots. Then Cube escape Cave.

Is Samsara Room tied into the plot? Having played through it I don't remember any real ties and even the devs don't seem to consider it part of the series seeing as their list of rusty lake games doesn't even include it.

It just seems like more a spiritual forerunner where they were using the same ideas but there's no real actual connection between it and the later games.
