and part of Cube escape series
This is false. The games do have jump scares. It's never reliant on them and doesn't overuse them but they are there. Usually at least 1 per game.
If you want an example watch the below clip of Cube Escape Birthday at the 8:55 mark. That is the general equivalent of the jump scares in the series.

There's a minor one on Roots. I think it's on the third or second "square" of James story, there will be a part where you have to grab a green red diamond on the window. A shadow of Mr. Crow makes a quick appearance there and crack a bit of the window in your face.

This is exactly how almost every jumpscare in the series work out. They are all minor, i don't ever remember screams at your face or detailed scary faces. All shadows and quick sounds.
There are only two games in the series that actually managed to get me "scared" or sorts, but not because of jumpscares, but because of "act fast or game over" situations only at the very end.
On Cube Escape: Case 23, only at the very end, you get back into the cabin of the lake but the walls are tripping the hell up and you feel an ominous atmosphere. Basically, the "shadow person" is coming to eat your soul through a straw inside your butt, and you gotta act fast and solve the puzzle or you'll get attacked and redo that section all over again.
On Cube Escape: Harvey's box, i HIGHLY recommend to collect every single FLY you can find. No, seriously, actually look up for those little bastards because at the very end, the shadow looms over the box and start to grow tentacles ready to do some very japanese things to you, and the only way to beat him is to move all the flies from your inventory to his face. If you miss one fly, you won't be able to stop him and it's game over.
Eventually, that fear slowly grew out of me, maybe because i've played a lot of horror games on the last 10 years. But i still understand what you mean. Have fun, take your time, you'll eventually overcome that fear.
That's all I have to say
