That being said, you don't need to use the analog sticks to do scratches; you can mash any two buttons on the D-Pad or the ABXY buttons, as long as you're not mixing the two groups (i.e. make sure you're mashing between up and left or X and A, and not D-left and X.)
In one of the groups of buttons are dead, flick the nearest analog stick a couple of times (left stick for D-pad buttons, right stick for ABXY), and they should work again as long as you don't mess with the sticks again.
edit: I mean, I'm like 35 with arthritis so I'm not expecting to S+ everything... that's beyond my physical skill cap, but I HATE when I miss one due to a technicality.
maybe I should try playing with the keyboard?
I'd recommend trying that yeah. KB is going to take some more time to get used to but it's far better compared to playing with a controller once you get the hang of it.
requires pressing the correct 4 keys at the exact same time for each of those notes.
does just mashing all 8 buttons at the same time work?
if you press too many the keyboard wont register even 1 then and your hear a ping or something
like that through your headset/speakers.
Just make sure you turn sticky keys off.
Can you set up diagonals that way?
there are only 10 buttons to rekeybind though you can keybind each key to 3 separate buttons each.
left side up, left, down, right, and "no direction press" (last one you never have a need to use. ones with no direction respond to any of the directions pressed.)
and right side up, left, down, right, and "no direction press"
left side i have as wasd and right side i have as ijkl. though you could do the numb pad, arrows,
or anything else you like also.
those new 14 and 15 hards hurt my hands a bit and i dont have arthritis.
Ya, the double taps that go up to what feels like 233 bpm are simply impossible for me... so I'll have to accept an A rank on normal and merely a clear on hard.
you did really well getting an A on normal.
