Dash/dashing problem?

Can I still dash by pressing the jump and down arrow at the same time?
I have looked multiple times through the in-game keybinding options and there seems to be no possible way to do it.
I already own Mega man X1 on another console and I swear you could dash by simultaneously pressing the jump button and down on the D-pad.
Now I have given up hope and I'm starting to think this way to dash has been scrapped...

any ideas on what happened?


(I am left handed and play on keyboard so it is very uncomfortable and almost unplayable to dash using the default binding which is the spacebar)

That's never been the case with the Mega Man X series. You had to b either hit the dedicated dash button or quickly double tap left or right.

Sorry, I should've said I own the Virtual console version for the Wii U.
A couple minutes later after writing this, I got out my Wii U, dusted it off and played MMX.
I can confirm that you can dash by combining the two buttons.
For this legacy collection I can double tap in one direction to dash, but it is still difficult to perform wall dash jumps... I think I might have to deal with these controls.

My keyboard does not ghost.
I have bought Mega Man legacy collection 1+2 and I can slide by pressing down and jump simultaneously. The problem is just in MMXLC 1 and 2.
