You need to finish one of the games to unlock the "Special 1" wallpaper (or maybe it's tied to Mega Man X1, I'm not sure). Then, go to the Gallery and see 20 images. After that, run one of the games and select wallpaper "Special 1" for getting the achievement. You get the "Special 2" wallpaper after getting 50% of the medals/achievements.
Edit:
Just beat the intro level again, and saved, then exited. Click MMX, and there is no continue option. It's just broken I guess...
After launching one of the games, it'll be under "Password". From there you can "load" a game (which in reality it automatically inputs the password from when you saved).
As for the wallpaper, I had to view images from all of the games. Setting the "Special 1" wallpaper wouldn't unlock the achievement because I had viewed 20 images from the same game. I had to view 20 images from all 4 games, and only then did the achievement unlock when setting Special 1.
Edit: Oh and, for X1 to X3, the Sigma stages progress doesn't save, you need to beat the final stages all in one go.
Sure thing! And I've added it to my previous post, but keep in mind that in X1, X2, and X3, the final stages don't save, so you need to beat them all in one go. Just making sure since I don't know if you saw it.
