X special weapons are preety overpower. You get double armor, infinite ammo, and can easily stun-loop the bosses.
Zero can only stun a few of the bosses. For the others, you need dash, jump and patience.
But I felt no difference on Sigma. Gunner Sigma was harder to shoot than to slash.
I've read this twice now. What is this "Mandrill Syndrome"?
Now that I see what they said here: "Weapons weaknesses can turn even challenging bosses like Magma Dragoon into a pathetically easy battle."
It must be that, because you can stunlock Spark Mandrill with his weakness until he dies.
Right after he stops being stunned by his weakness, his invulnerability has worn off, so stun him again...
Basically, what XZero has already said. :)
Spark Mandrill is a particularly egregious example of poor game balance: in Megaman X1, it was so bad that one could destroy him (it?) with his weakness while standing still. Completely.
Wow this is like the exact opposite of my experience. Zero's incredibly DPS and better movement option(Double jump beats hover almost any time) and amazing jump slash once you get the upgrade...
He's got a bit of a skill ceiling, but once you learn how to use him he's an absolute beast. I'm actually better with Zero and prefer to play him over X these days.

"Man, X4 is so easy. PERIOD."
If you want to play as X and challenge yourself, just don't collect any 4rth armor pieces. Or, if you REALLY have something to prove, don't collect any heart tanks either.
I always had way more trouble beating the game as X than as Zero, especially Sigma... Zero wrecks him so much faster than X.
