X7 = Abysmal graphics, poor level design, no replay value, terrible boss fight, voice acting is bad
X8 = Gameplay was kind of okay, but character looks awfully weird, compared to original art style.

These are the good games. X6 is not a bad game, but was the beggining of the crap. X7 is just so awful is unbelievable and X8 tried to fix the series but no, it wasnt enough. It sucks comparerd to the first 5. The series was supposed to end in X5, so that explains what the hell happened i guess.

X1, X4: Simple and good
X8: I used to like it better as a kid
X2: I really like the soundtrack here
X3, X5: I'm indifferent here

2: great physics, level design, and boss fights. it doesn't overcomplicate things with dumb gimmick/puzzle levels (see X8 for examples) and it just feels really nice flying through levels with the dash ability (Its good for pretty much all of the reasons X3 is good)
1: I already mentioned why I like the original SNES games here, but I had to put this one under X2 and X3 just because of meaningless personal preferance the physics aren't as good as they are in X2/3. On the other hand, this one has the most powerful weapons in the series by far. which is nice because it actually makes them worth using
4: great cutscenes (unless youre using the english voice over) great gameplay, zero is super fun to play as. you get the picture. my main reason why this one is under 1-3 is because of jet stingray's level. i also just kinda prefer the X2-3 physics/control
5: meh its ok... as far as story goes, this one is the most important (unless you aren't ever planning on playing the zero series) but the level design is kind of frustrating, and it really breaks its own rules by constantly stopping you so alia can sit there and explain things that were meant to be self-explanatory. this one really could have been as good as x4 if they didnt add all this random garbage to it.
8: this game had so much potential, but they blew it on the level design, of all things. i mean come on, they actually managed to make AXL fun to play as. the core mechanics of this game are just beautiful, but there arent really any good levels to back it up. (also you should totally be able to switch between X, Zero and Axl instead of choosing one to sit on the bench for a level to find out that you actually should have taken him and having to replay the level later) also having to buy heart and sub tanks instead of finding them in levels is kind of stupid IMO. I really didnt mind having vile back for once tho
6: Speaking of breaking your own rules... ok why am i forced to collect certain armors to beat the stupid gate stages? why is high max? why is the zero virus? why did zero hide himself while he repaired himself? on the bright side, youre not forced to listen to alia, and infinity whateveritis's theme is pretty good i guess...
7: what even is this game? why is this game? I actually got this on my PS2 about a year after i got the original Megaman X collection and I was expecting something at least more fun than X6... the only thing that kept me playing this game until I beat it once was the soundtrack. they took everything they could possibly mess up about this game (except the soundtrack because its pretty good) and somehow made it even worse than expected.
