Besides neither X3 soundtrack makes the game sound like a sequel to X1 and X2, as it should be.
Ultimately, if the SNES music was the way it was intended to sound they would have just recorded that music and put it on the CD versions of the game.
I'd bet money the composer of these songs would say that the CD versions are the way they are intended to sound. I wouldn't even be surpised if the CD versions were written first, and then simplified for the SNES. The games were only a couple months apart in release.
Unlikely as that is.
