So I've done a number of these "kill rare monster" side quests - usually it's 3 or 4 fights at most before the rare monster shows up.

I've killed like... 30 bilhaws? Maybe more. Enough to gain several levels at only 2000 xp a pop.

Is there something wrong with the quest? Did the patch break it?

nope, that's just one of the rarer monsters, I killed 70 bilhaws before one showed up.

I only had to do 8-12 to get him. Do you have the item equipped that increases chances for rarer monsters?

I would have to beat the black cup on difficult to get that right? I've tried - I don't think I can do it on keyboard and mouse. (game doesn't like my gamepad unfortunately)

So I got a ring of serendipity from somewhere and did finally complete this quest.
