Character Customization?
Not seeing anything about this on the shop page. I can tell the party are all established characters with their own personalities which is fine and neat, but can you choose how the main silent protagonist guy looks? I don't see why you shouldn't if he's silent anyways, and I quite liked that feature in DQ9.

this game is basically a mid 90's JRPG with 2018 graphics and engine (which is exactly what I was looking for)

I get it, character customization is one of the most prized features in a game for me. DQ11 has a silent protagonist and customization would have worked well, but the devs didn't want to take the time to add a bunch of hair and body options. Similarly, there are only a few outfit choices in game, and you can only use them through very narrow level ranges due to there being no vanity slot system. Vanity slots are a super easy thing to implement. They could hand me the code and I'd give them a vanity slot system in a day, easy.

All that being said, DQ11 is still a great game. It's a classic JRPG with modern graphics. The characters are a riot. I'm having fun. I don't buy into very many feature-poor RPGs, but I make the occasional exception, and DQ11 has been very worthwhile.

Dude, how would they do the opening cutscene if hero would be customizable?

In fact, i dislike that customization, because i hate seeing how other people don't play as the same character as me XD

I wouldn't mind the murder hobo you play in this game talking but I feel like it'd be missing something.......
to me the fact he's silent is not a problem at all: I disabled voice
I love that game for what it is to me: an old school JRPG with modern techniques

I dunno! I feel like having this main protagonist character just be generic brown haired trunks instead of whatever I want kind of really hurts the primary function of a silent protagonist, which is being someone for you to put yourself in the shoes of and fill in the gaps of how they really are.

What about Link from Zelda? Why is there no complaint about customizing him given that he's a silent protagonist?
Bad example, you can customize Link if you play BOTW on PC. And yeah, I do wanna. Also, Chell from Portal is another horrible example, just like Gordon Freeman, because they literally don't have any input on the story and aren't even visible ingame 99.9% of the time because they're from first person games.

I love reading these threads for a good laugh. It reminds me of people who wont play any of the Zelda games because they look too kid-ish and are not customizable in any way.

Have fun not playing some of the greatest games ever made.
Alright so we got Zelda and this game. There's just not too many other games (worth playing) where the main character is both completely set in stone and also entirely silent with minimal input for the story apart from killing things dead. I'm not telling anyone off for playing this game, I'm just saying that'd have been a feature that would've made me a lot less reluctant to buy this game, it was kind of "should I?" case anyways.

using mods in a game that wasn't meant to be modded is not a bad example

It does speak towards people wanting that customization, and having it also doesn't change the game for the worse at all so any arguments against having the option at all just fall flat.

Most of the game your hero will be clad in full heavy armor so it doesn't really matter.
The armor sets all look great.

I suppose I'm the only person who actually likes how the Hero looks?

Just me? Okay. I'll just stay here by my lonesome then. ;_;

Seriously though, while I do like character customization, I'm not bothered by the lack of it in the slightest. Sure, would have been a cool feature. But I think the main character works just as he is, after all, A Dragon Quest by any other name would just be as sweet. =3

This game is amazing and I love all the characters, even the Hero. =3
